Here are a couple of comments by our resident Ford engineer. I only looked at this thread. He has commented on others.

Mr windows, I bought mine first week of Oct as well. My problem also came with the first warm day after winter. It's like the truck was saying "whoa, where is my negative weather!".

Hopefully, by then, the EPA will have released the permanent solution certification and Ford can apply the computer re-flash they developed almost 2 months ago.

My father and I ordered the same truck the same day and both according to the dealer started build on the same day. They also had 4 more trucks built that week for them and I am the only one having the CEL issue. The only thing different on my truck than the others is the remote start. At this point it has been on for about 6 months truck runs great no DEF used. I have had the NOX sensor and the DEF tank/sensor replaced CEL still on. I am still scratching my head wondering why out of 30 trucks sold at the dealer I am the only one with CEL issues. I also had the turbo created CEL the 1st week with the truck. I still get 15 MPG towing and 18 empty.

My dealer performed the shimming TSB, but that still didn't fix it. The tech said he put a wrench on every bolt near the front of the truck and found nothing out of spec. Eventually, he said he pulled the bolts back out of the body mounts (the bolts that he had shimmed earlier) and looked up into the holes. He said it looked like the bolts might have been touching the metal above the mounts so he ground just a little bit off the end of the bolts (shortened them just a pinch) and reinstalled them. So far (3 weeks later), no more noises on turns or driveways.

Still waiting for the CEL fix.
mr176,

Thanks very much for this information! This is why these sites are so important to people having the same issues. It only takes one tech out there in many dealerships to look past the TSB's and maybe find a solution for problems. I have past this info to the dealership that had my truck for five days and didn't fix this problem. I would suggest any others having this issue copy the info and send it to your dealers service dept.

Rick

My transmission feels weird today. Like I have to push the pedal harder than normal. I also saw the temps reach 192 during normal driving which was weird. Lord help me please.

I barely drove her today. It was different for sure and a lot higher than I normally see not towing. Will drive her around more tomorrow and pray she is normal. Just a little freakish.

Yeah, mine was cleared last week when truck was there all week. It's back on and probably will stay that way until Ford releases a fix.

I posted earlier up this thread. I had a CEL. The dealer replaced the DEF pump. It's been about two weeks - all is good.

On a side note: Why I have confidence in this dealer. I took the X in with an oil leak. I told the Service Writer where it was leaking from and to fix it. (It was the oil cooler tube, coming from the block to the filter.) They found a fuel leak at the fuel filter bowl drain valve and fixed that. The tech did not find the oil leak. When I got there to pick it up, I crawled under it and could still see the oil leak. The Service Writer got the Service Manager to put it on a lift. I showed them where it was leaking. I told the I wanted all four o-rings replaced and all gaskets replaced. They called me the next day and said they had found another fuel leak on the number six cylinder line and fixed it. They fixed the oil leak as I had requested.
When I picked it up they said no charges. They did these repairs for free because they missed it the first time.

That IMO is customer service.
That is why I like the dealer I use.
If I'm not happy about something, the SM expects to hear from me.

If a project is done correctly, I also expect to pay for it.
Everyone has to make an income.

But it's those who do a crappy job and still expect to be paid (fully) is what I think is crazy.

Well i made my once every two week trip to my dealership to find out if there getting anywhere on the check engine light issue and as i fully expected nothing heard from Ford. I asked the service Rep, if he knew of the fact that Ford has a fix for this problem but is waiting for EPA aprroval, and to no suprise he knows of nothing to back up that claim, Now the problem that i have is do they actually not know because Ford is not telling them or is there really not a fix for this at all yet, I just wish someone would be HONEST and give us guys a answer weather its the one we want or not, at least then we would know what the hell is going on,so Ford if your listening tell your dealers somthing so they can pass it on to us guys that are driving 60k trucks that put our trust in a company that is suppose to be building a quality product, im starting to wonder if i bought the right Truck!!!

I just got a call from customer service in response to an email I sent regarding the check engine light. The rep was very polite and said that the repair is scheduled to be out by the end of March and will consist of a software upgrade and a part change. She obviously didn't know the specifics but did say she checked with someone in engineering and was told that operating the truck until the repair is available should have no longterm effects, and if any issues were to arise they would be completely covered under the 5/100 warranty. I asked her how I would know when the fix was available and she offered to keep checking and call me when it's released. I know it's not great news, but it is news and I give them credit for following up on my email and actually having some information to give me.
