I guess we did not get the same trucks Halliburton used for the pre-production testing....... They had no problems!

I have kept a low profile on this topic. I understand well the aggravation involved with issues with a new truck. BTDT and when it's your truck it's a big deal.

The pre-production trucks were built with production specification parts. However, they were not built with an order bank of 30000 trucks a month. The vendor supplied parts, like the out of spec sensor in the DEF issue, likely were much more intensely scrutinized for specification compliance. I have no way of knowing how many trucks are involved with the cold climate issue. Ford has delivered over 200000 trucks. If there are 2000 of them showing this problem, it is a 1% issue. This does not diminish the need for Ford to act as swiftly as possible. It has been reported here that the solution is completed and awaiting EPA approval.

It also appears there has been a similar but even smaller CEL issue with the DEF tank sensors. The replacement parts are at the dealers now so these trucks are being repaired.

Regards

If they used more scrutinized parts on the pre-production trucks, then how is that going to help them with what the real world parts are going to do in the same conditions? It might only be a few trucks, but one person with a bad experience can turn off no telling how many other potential customers.

The point was that the vendors were being very careful with their pre-production parts. The wider bandwith problem on the defective sensors is likely being checked much more aggressively now. I was not excusing anyone.

Sorry for the misunderstanding

My tow season starts here shortly. I need s truck that works as hard as I do to pay for her. I sure hope this fix comes out soon. The lack of power and more so, the lack of mileage, is killing me.

It is quite possible your issue will disappear when the weather warms up. There were no reported problems until it got cold. It has been reported that some of the CEL's have disappeared in warmer climates. In a week or two, as it continues to warm up in the cold north, a visit to the dealer to have the CEL turned off may make it stay away until more cold weather arrives. Hopefully, by then, the EPA will have released the permanent solution certification and Ford can apply the computer re-flash they developed almost 2 months ago.

Regards

What is funny is that I just posted prior to this CEL about how great this truck has been this winter. Light on or off it still has been great. I would not mind seeing it go away with warmer weather but would rather have a perm sollutiin.

I am sure you will be getting an updated computer flash for your CEL. I do not believe they will re-flash all the trucks. There are only a small number of trucks with the issue and likely 200000 trucks with no issue. I am curious as to production dates for the DEF issues. Is there a common denominator for a batch of trucks built with out of spec sensors? I am sure Ford knows the answer to that question.

After being 'on' for 2 months, my light went 'off' last week..

I have not added any DEF fluid for 6000 kms. My monitor still says "good". I'm willing to bet that the fluid has been frozen for the past 3 months. I'm not going to add an DEF till it says half full. I'm sill in the 0F - -20F range temps.

Prior to winter, I was just adding every 1500 kms or so, and filling it up.

Eventually, he said he pulled the bolts back out of the body mounts (the bolts that he had shimmed earlier) and looked up into the holes. He said it looked like the bolts might have been touching the metal above the mounts so he ground just a little bit off the end of the bolts (shortened them just a pinch) and reinstalled them. So far (3 weeks later), no more noises on turns or driveways.
Are those the front cab mounts...??

I'm getting the same popping noise on sharp turns.

My truck ran 3/4 of the winter until my light came on, Jan.27 to be exact,it wasnt until one almost 40 degree day that it came on and has been cleared twice to only come back on, I would be very amazed if it went off when it warmed up mainly because thats when i had my problem, the dealership told me they thought the code was probably triggered by moisture in the air box, i have checked my filter and air box twice to find it dry as a bone, i think at this point i would maybe tend to believe that maybe there was maybe a bad run of these sensors, i bought mine Oct.1, i have not looked when the production date was but none the less i hope the EPA and Ford find a solution real fast as my patience is wearing very thin, i sympathize with the rest of you who also have this issue its very frustrating and to date my dealer still has not told me that Ford has the solution but is waitng for EPA approval so rickatic i hope your right cause thats the only reason im hanging in there!!
