CT Chapter February B/S thread
Good evening everyone:Spent 2 hours at my interview today, 90% of it was simply a guided tour.
My sit down interview was 50% hearing about his background.
They said they are interviewing a dozen candidates for a few openings.
Oh well, they probably know who they intend to hire already and the interview is just going through the motions.
My truck is falling apart - literally.
I hope it holds together long enough to get me up to New Milford and back for tomorrows interview.
My oil filter is leaking at the cover joint, When I change the oil I hope its just the o-ring and nothing more.
My front bumper was blocked out to clear the tires. The two mounting bolts (studs actually) on the passenger side sheared off. I hope the guy who tighten the driver's side didn't taffy those threaded rod which they used for their studs.
<<< Revision >>>
Went back to the shop that did the work after I had my interview up in New Milford on Thursday 17 Feb.
What I thought was all-thread rod stock cut to length was actually half inch diameter grade eight! hex-socket long set screws.
The two that sheared, sheared well below the bottom of the broach for the hex-socket.
As best we could figure was that all the tension was across only one - two threads length of the 'stud' and that the 'stud' was just too hard a material.
All four 'studs' were replaced with grade five half inch diameter bolts with jacking nuts to accomplish the same 'stud' effect.
<<< As for the oil filter leak. >>>
I couldn't see any defect in either the o-ring or the housing.
When I put the new o-ring on I used a dab of silicone vacuum grease (thick tacky stuff).
And so far its not leaking.
I'm thinking that the previous o-ring was either twisted / rolled along its circumference, and or was just a tad under tolerance on thickness.
