Front Passenger.
Across the cross member. Need to drill and tap for two brackets.
Lines from the master to the new Wilwood prop valve that is on order. The valve will be mounted on the inner boxing plate hidden.
And even Lizards read FTE with relish! Some of my Daughters menagerie.
Well we ran in to a few snags with the new transmission that the owner wanted to install. It appears the T85C/R11 was abused a bit back in the day. It is a 2/62 manufacture so it almost 50 years old.
Here is the Low/Reverse Gear all chewed up.
Idler Gear and Cluster Gear.
Number Dummy has found the parts i need to rebuild it, but we found some more wrong as it needs a few roller bearings, a pawl for the R11 and synchronizers. plus a few other internal snap ring. I will get with ND once i have it all apart. Some parts are being stubborn as they are in place for a while. The locking pin for the R11 OD shaft is jammed and the woodruff keys for the idler and cluster gear just will not come out. I will play with them some more during the week.
We Ordered a new clutch kit for a 62 Galaxy with the 3 speed trans. We needed the 23 x11 clutch in lieu of the 10x11. Scrounged that up from Rock Auto. I have to fit everything together and make a custom pilot to pick up the shorter input shaft.
We also received a nice 65/66 column from Bill W for the build. Sent it out for sandblast and powder coating of Gloss Black. Came out pretty nice.
Here is the column as we were assembling it with new bearings and a new TS switch out of the 64 column we had.
Last shot is with a mock up column installed. We will e purchasing one of DC nice shiny wheels.
Here is the new front shock perches. They are he same dimensionally as a F1 set. We need to switch to a shorter shock as i cannot get bilstiens is the length required to accommodate the lowered front axle.
That's all for now. When i get the new parts for the trans i will post some rebuild pictures.
Well was able to get a bit deeper in to the R11 unit. The Planetary ears are toast and the sun gear will also be gone. It looks like it was run without gear lube for quite a while as the gears metal is actually melted1
Here is some optional parts as i started to dismantle.
And the shift fork is severely worn.
Hopeful we find all the parts necessary to make it function again
Good stuff Garbz. I had the old 4 speed apart a little bit that I had in my 65. Thank God I didnt have to go as deep into it as you are into this one. My next foray into tranny work will be the C6 for my truck.
I really like the shock mounts! Simple, strong, and good looking.
It has been a bit since i have updated this post with new information. The cab and all the front sheet metal is out being painted and i am working on some of the little items with a mockup cab. The Tri-power intake is out getting refurbished with new 97s.
Here is what i have been up to lately, enjoy.
New speedway Motors Rams Horn Manifolds.
Fabricating the exhaust to tie in the functional lakes pipes. Here is the first piece off the base of the manifold.
Here is the piece in Place and pointed in the correct direction.
Here is the gap that needs to be filled with tubing.
Here is the Industrial Chassis sourced four bolt exhaust flanges
Here is the second piece fabricated and in place.
Here is the third piece cut and in Place. It also shows the four inch gap between the lakes pipe and the tubing,
Here is the fourth piece in place with flanges.
And a final shot from the side.
I will mock up the passenger side tomorrow. I have to TIG weld the seam where exposed and these are only two welds on the entire system. I plan to make the passenger side symmetrical to the drivers side. The manifolds, Pipes and lakes will go out to be Coated once i have them completed.
I also have to work up come custom mounts for the bottom of the cab to mount the lakes pipes.
I have a 66 F100 with a 352...I have been having a hard time finding performance parts for it...can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd either like to get a blower or a manifold that supports 3 2BBL carbs...any help would be great. Why is it you don't really hear of 352's?
