Well here are a few more pictures. I finished rebuilding the modified pedal mount.
New Bushings.. Man these little suckers are nine bucks each. 36.00 for the four...
Here is the clutch Pedal
And the new brake pedal bumper
Brake Pedal
And the assembled unit
I use synthetic caliper grease on the through support bolt as it melts at a higher temp than white lithium grease and will not drip on your shoes.
And for last who can answer just what and where these are?
And for last who can answer just what and where these are?
Those look like the pot metal pieces in the pedal bracket that the bushings fit into. When I rebuild mine many years ago I used brass pipe bushings drilled out the accept the plastic bushings. I secured the brass bushings with electrical conduit connector nuts. As I recall, the plastic bushings were only $4-5 each back then lol
Made up the retainer for the firewall seal. It is a 67 to 72 piece but fits the bill for this build.
In place.
Here is the seal in place and the clutch seal mocked in place. That is also a 67 to 72 piece.
Modified the mirror base to mount it like an early Vette. I will send this out once it is metal finished to be chromed and use a new chrome mirror and post.
I will finish up the frame soon and get the cab back on the frame after some paint. We also filled in all the holes on the firewall we are not using and a few excess screw holes in the floor.
Well, we were able to get a bit more done over the weekend.
Removed the 292 and trans for cleanup. Real interesting method to remove it as it is a slammed suspension.
Modified the front bracing for the steering box area.
For the rear mounts some enterprising persons cut out the stock cross member and added in sections from a 57 to 60. Guess they could not find the correct 61 to 64 ones.
57 to 60 clam shell mounts.
Had the vent frames sand blasted and painted in semi gloss black.
The vents will have new neoprene sandwiched between and riveted.
Removed the old rear hunk of steel from the hitch.
And removed the blocking plates from the 9"
We will clean the frame next weekend with a pressure washer and degrease and wire wheel it. Paint will be rustoleum gloss black for the frame and semi gloss for the steering box.
I thought about it once for a bit and went as far as holding one on the dash to see if I liked it.
How do you like it since you've mocked it up? Atleast in therory.
I figured one would have to run pretty low to make it usefull becouse you wouldn't have the angle to your advantage anymore.
We have to final fit it once the ranger brackets and mustang seats are installed. The mount section i will have chromed and add a chrome 61 to 66 aftermarket chrome stem and head.
I like it, It is just a bit different from the norm.
I have a slider in my 64 and i modified the stem on mine by adding 2 inches to drop it lower so i could actually see the freeway traffic.
the truck is really starting to shape up it looks good. Whats the plan for the 292 is it staying stock or will it have some upgrades?
The 292 is a fresh build with about 100 miles on it. I would like to find a tripower for it but that may come later. We are adding a pair of Speedy bills new Y block rams horns and tie in to 80 inch lakes pipes with no mufflers. Only other mod is a pertronix for the dizzy and a blaster coil.
Lookin' clean Garbz
Ya gonna keep the drums all the way around?
The trucks owner and i have discussed it, He wants to keep the drums as everything is all new. I will plumb the brake lines in such a fashion to allow a disc brake swap later on.
I am adding a 60s Corvette style dual master for non-power brakes, under dash switch and a aftermarket prop/splitter.
I have all new hoses here and will bend up the lines after we get the frame in paint.
