Yep, It gives it a 115" wheelbase to better center the axle in the fender opening,. something that was fixed the 65 model.

It also allows me to get enough meat to make the cut and splice. Straight up just would not accommodate.

I think next Saturday I will be able to do the big window conversion. Any one in Az wanting to come up to Glendale and help is more than welcome.

Got a bit more done to the truck frame.

Here is the main section welded

Here is the upper filler piece in place

I will add the lower sections over the weekend and make the fishplate templates.

Here a a few of the goodies we will install in the build.

I will document the install of the rear big window with lots of pictures.

It is a Vintage 15 Gallon Moon fuel tank.

Aluminum with the mounts and an indy type flip cap.

Yea John, Arizona Fall and winter is the build time it was in the low 90's today.

Here is some more work done. Eric, BillW and Kstone came over to help.

Here is the donor roof.

Removing the excess sheet metal so we can have it bead blasted.

Kstone removing the excess metal.

BillW and Kstone with the almost ready piece.

Here is where Eric starts to remove the rear sail panel and inner structure.

Once all the spot welds inside are removed we cut all around the panel.

Here is the side cut where the splice of the new big window roof will meet the existing cab sheet metal.

Here is the panel fully removed.

I hammer and dolly worked the back edge of the cab to make a flange at the existing body line.

And that is about it for today. I need to remove the remaining sheet metal from the flange on the cab roof and once the rear big window panel comes back from bead blast i will need to do some rust repair.

I will get the section back from bead blast today. I have some rust repair to do and then fit it in place.

The B pillar inner stamping for the latch and the outer riser to the roof are the same stamping for the conventional and the uni cabs. There is a different inner reinforcement for each tyupe of cab. The small window uni differes from the big window uni and these differ from the conventional.

The Big window also uses a upper inner panel that has the dome light integral to it. It uses a one piece headliner unlike a small window two or four piece.

Also being dropped off today is the new wiring harness, and all the parts to rebuild the steering column for the firewall outlet relocation.

I should be able to have the BBW in place this weekend. Stay tuned for updates.

Was able to get some more done today.

Here is the opening being prepped

Here is the rear window panels after media blast. There is a substantial bit of rust needing repair in the upper window stamping.

I removed the upper center to make it easier to metalwork and placed the panel in the cab.

From behind.

From the drivers side

From the passenger side

From the inside

From the inside

I need to add some sheet metal to the cab at the base of the sail panels on each side and add a flange to the outside to pick up the lower outer window panel.

Eric brought some more goodies by for the build. A E Z Wire kit, and components from Dennis Carpenter to remake the 64 column.
