2nd and 3rd Pic. There is a crap load of rust in the upper panel. It is easier to fix with it removed. I will have to stretch and shrink the new metal as it is a compound piece.
There is way to much to fix with it in place. It is easier to remove it and then make the compound pieces needed to fix the rust. Then replace it back in to the cab.
Pic 2 and 3 are just a Portion. It needs to be all new metal almost all the way across. Water must have gotten in and laid on the shelf, it was hidden when you and Kevin were taking it apart.
I put the pictures in PB and the owner uses them to post on the poor excuse for a truck site.
I did the front frame on Sunday and need to update the post. I have not added them to PB yet! I will be finishing work on the rear window over the next four days off, and modifying the dash and pedal to accept the new steering column position. Shoulr also be able to get the rear raised and C notch rework finished.
Az Dropped off the seat brackets and seat to add the floor reinforcements.
Here is the modified core support accept the radiator.
Here is the other side.
Here is it in place and the front valance.
The valance is one of the batch of NOS Four Wheel Drive and F350 pieces i picked up in June.
I was also able to finish welding the frame inside and have to make the inner and outer reinforcement patterns tomorrow.
I will work on the rear notch and raise the axle four inches tomorrow.
Eric will be getting a set of the new Speedway Ram horns for the Y and we will build the exhaust to incorporate 70" lakes pipes on mounts off the frame.
Added the rear axle blocks. Frame will be just about level with the body on and modified the under cab cross member for clearance of the drive shaft.
Here is the section removed.
Making the reinforcements
Finish Cleanup
Modified E Brake Bracket in Place
We worked out how the steering is going to function. We will be going with a front steer using a Manual from a 66 F100 and re-indexed and modified pittman and drag link. This will allow everything to clear in the engine compartment.
I have to take some pictures of the axle and blocks and just how low the frame sets. More to come.
Well it has been a few weeks since my last update.
Here is the frame height without the body attached. I think it will drop about another 1" with weight. Currently it will have a 7 to 8 inch rocker height.
And from other side.
I was also able to cut out the center dash section.
and fit a new center section in place.
Here is the Stainless CC trim in place with the new center section.
I will sand and weld it in tomorrow.
Here is the brackets we will be using to mount the bucket seats. They are Bill W products and really nice as they are Lazer cut.
And here are a set of 67 to 72 ranger brackets that Bill will pattern off of for the bump side guys. They were slightly modified by a PO.
I will be working on the truck all this week so look back for more updates.
so i have a question on the dash where you put the newer piece in. What do you have to do about the pedal assembly can you use the 61-64 style or do you need to update it to the 65-66 assembly. i'm working on switching the dash over for a 65 column in my 64 and im kind of stumped the old dash had the relief in the underside for the assembly and it doesnt seem like just the sheetmetal will hold the column in place. You may not be this far yet but any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Kyle
Great looking build! hey, not trying to hijack, but I have a 64 that I think would look great a little lower to the ground. Do you have any pics of the truck before you thought about doing all the mods? And what about those WWW? Are they on the stock 15" or on the older 16" wheels?
