Coyote-Swapped Ford Bronco Build Is Officially Underway

Coyote-Swapped Ford Bronco

Many have talked about building a Coyote-swapped Ford Bronco, but now, it’s actually happening.

Prior to the sixth-generation Ford Bronco reveal that took place back in the summer of 2020, most were holding out hope that the reborn SUV would be available with V8 power – us included. After all, every Bronco that existed before it was available with some sort of V8, and enthusiasts tend to prefer it over four- and six-cylinder powerplants. That didn’t come to fruition, of course, and it looks like we’ll never see a V8-powered sixth-gen Bronco unless some one figures out how to shoehorn that engine in one. Turns out, that’s precisely what the folks at No Traction Faction are doing right now – building a Coyote-swapped Ford Bronco.

Many have teased that they want to build a Coyote-swapped Bronco, and yet, none have actually produced something of note. That isn’t the case here, however, as this particular 2021 model has already been stripped of its original powerplant and is being fitted with the Coyote as we speak. In the most recent update, we can see the engine sitting between the frame rails, proving that it at least fits in there.

The crew at No Traction Faction originally teased that they were going to complete this swap around six months ago when they took delivery of their Bronco, but they certainly aren’t the only ones. As such, it wasn’t clear if the build was actually going to happen. Now that it’s in progress (albeit with little supporting information as of now), it’s difficult to doubt that they can really do it.

However, much work remains, including making everything not only fit, but work as it should. It’s unclear what sort of impact the more powerful engine will have on the rest of the drivetrain and the suspension, but we imagine that NTF can work it all out. After all, hot rodders have been doing things like this for decades, and with any luck, this swap will start a trend that will make it easier for any of us to V8-swap our own Broncos.
