Truck slump

I have a question. I have a 2017 Ford F-250 rear-wheel drive. I just bought me a 15,000 lb fifth wheel. When I connected it, the back end slumped just a little bit more. It didn't level. Would my best option be to get airbags for that or not? Thanks.

That’s a lot of trailer for a 3/4ton truck. The problem is everyone wants the truck to ride like a car but not squat when hooked to the 5th wheel. You can’t have both. You will need airbags or helpers of some kind.

How bad is it? if it's not bad just live with it. if you can't see over the hood air bags are the way to go, I put a set with the remote compressor on my F350 and they work great. I leveled it so I had to do something.

What is your actual pin weight? have you run this across a CAT scale to get your axle weights before and after?

I'm under the understanding that it should be able to handle up to 18,000 lb. Yes I think I'm going to get the airbags. Thanks for the advice.

Beware of relying on manufacturer's "max tow" ratings. Check the yellow payload sticker on your door jamb and compare that to the trailer pin weight.......but again, ignore the manufacturers' dry trailer weight or dry pin weight and use 20-25% of the trailer's GVWR as a target pin weight and remember that your payload needs to be enough for the pin weight, hitch, any added truck accessories and anything/everything in the truck cab or bed.

It is what it is now so get your airbags to level the truck.

Before you buy airbags, buy true scale weights.

No F250 has a 18K 5th wheel tow rating, but should handle a 15K trailer.
Is the 15K you are quoting, what it weighs loaded with all your stuff, or is that just what the GVWR is on it?

I have a new set of 2WD airbags that I never used that I would sell if you want to go that way.

Went out in the garage and checked, been a very long time since I bought it all.
I have the AirLift 89391 5000 pound ultimate airbag kit with the internal jounce bumpers
Their dual path airbag dual needle gauge controller panel for in-cab airbag adjustment
HD air compressor with large tank
Large chrome 18 wheeler air horn
A big bunch of air lines and fittings, and a bunch of electrical connection parts
Just about everything needed for a killer installation

Let me know if you're interested, I have a lot of $$$ in it, but will make a deal on it all.
Just taking up shelf space in my garage right now.

Read it again, 18K is conventional towing, 5th wheel is 16.8K on a crew cab.
