It is HUGE! in comparison to the stock FL-1995 but keeps the oil much cleaner than the stock filter and the Amsoil BPF combo ever did.
Proof of fitment. Also, the filter is mostly protected by the front differential/axle, oil pan, engine crossmember. I have been running them for a while and have not experienced any dings, dents, or holes after running on the road, in fields, woods, trails for many K miles. YMMV!
One note of importance. I have installed these on both F350's, the Ex, and several friends are running them. All of us have experienced a leak of a few drops upon initial install. Then, they never leak again.
They do stick down almost as far as the Fumoto valve which has never struck anything either: in spite of my initial fears.
In case anyone is wondering, it does not come in contact with the crossmember, sway bar (if the sway bar is installed correctly), or oil pan. Also, that second NAPA filter is for the regulated return. I do not like the mount which does leak a tiny amount nor its location.
Any thoughts or experience with running these on a F350 Dually but 2wd? Thanks

The capacity of the LF9691 is almost exactly 2 quarts. I removed the bypass filters on both of the dually's and started using these instead. The LF9691 is around $24-26 each when purchased in bulk. That cut the cost of an oil change quite a bit for me due to the fact that I did not run the actual BP filter more than 10k miles even though Amsoil stated that it could go at least 2x that. So, instead of about $100 every 10k miles in filters alone: 2 normal filters and one BP filter, it now costs $48-52 and the oil is visibly cleaner (less soot in suspension) to boot.
Pete, another plus was getting rid of all of the additional plumbing: hoses and numerous fittings, associated with the BP filter set-up that had started to leak after about 6 years.
Fleetguard also makes a smaller version, the LF9027, that is almost the same size as the FL1995 that costs a few dollars less per filter than the LF9691 which also contains a built-in BP filter.
I like the added capacity of the LF9691 and, based upon size alone, one could assume that there is certainly more surface area in the filtration media department which should provide better overall filtration even if the media composition is the same as the LF9027 due to the oil having a potentially lower velocity while traveling through the media due to the larger surface area of the media in the LF9691 as opposed to the smaller surface area in the LF9027....although I have never cut two of them apart to verify my assumption. Was that a run-on sentence?
I carry a spare LF9027 and 2 gals of oil in the trucks just in case something happens to get damaged on one of the 9691's. Baldwin makes a LF9027 equivalent also and IIRC there is a WIX equivalent through the NAPA Gold line.
There is also a Fleetguard LF9691A that is not compatible with the 7.3L.

I don't have any direct experience. I have owned a 2wd F250 and 2wd Ex in the past both with the 7.3L but did not use this filter because I didn't know about it almost 18 years ago. Since the oil pan and crossmember are the same on the 2wd models IIRC, I do not see where there would be any issues unless the sway bar interfered. If it does, then you could choose the LF9027 or Baldwin equivalent.
I believe that my Racor bypass plumbing setup is a little simpler and I know has shorter tubing runs than the Amsoil setup. Everything is tucked up under the DS rail right beside the engine with very short tubing runs into and out of the block. I've also already gone through one set of replacement hoses, so I'm good with all of that for longer than I plan to keep the truck. I'm really not interested in any further extensions on my OCI at this point. I only drive about 8-10K per year, and used to run 15-18K between changes. Now, I just do a once annual change out, and I'm trying to convince myself to follow recommended guidelines and only replace the HUGE bypass element every other year, but when I get into it, I tell myself "What the heck... just go ahead and replace both filters anyway!". I know I can simplify it by just going to the larger main filter element, but I would be losing a little bit of oil cooling and filtration capacity to swap the single larger primary filter without keeping a similar sized bypass element in the mix. I'll have to think about it, though.

I only go to 5k max on the F350's due to them being tow mules that don't move with less than 7k hooked up behind them and sometimes only 4k if I start to hear the injectors getting louder due to the shearing that our engine's HPOP and injectors cause. I've had UOA done and even though it says I can extend the drain interval another 2-3k, I don't think it is worth it in the long run. I let the EX go a bit farther, maybe 7.5k but that is about it. Premium Blue Extreme seems to last the longest out of all of the oils I have run.

I guess I am wondering.....why use such a big oil filter when plenty of trucks have gone the half a million miles on a stock setup that most of us will not go? What's the benefit? The stock system is pretty badass by itself. Just wondering. Something to do I guess?
I know for me we're heading out for a 5k mile trip with the 5er Wednesday and just past the 3k mile mark we'd be parked at her grandma's house in Cali and I didn't want to mess with an oil change on the road in that state. Besides, nice to try something new and see how MY 7.3 takes to the change. Who doesn't like the idea of cleaner oil? If you are paying less than $28 for your 4 gallons of oil please share your source!

Put the truck to work today. Picked up a 2001 5.4 2wd excursion. Radiator leaks, not sure what else is needed. Ac works, will park it till I can dig into it end of July or start of August. Super clean body, doors are the cleanest I have seen in Illinois lol $500.

Let me know if you get the rebates.I bought 6 gallows two months ago and haven't received mine yet. It's good oil but if they don't pay the rebate's I won't recommend it.

Yup, sway bar. I think my tired front springs contributed to the situation. Not really a hard impact, but the filter mounts to the rear oil cooler header which is cast aluminum and not designed to take a thump like that. I gave up the extra quart of oil capacity and went back to the FL1995.
