Put the truck to work today. Picked up a 2001 5.4 2wd excursion. Radiator leaks, not sure what else is needed. Ac works, will park it till I can dig into it end of July or start of August. Super clean body, doors are the cleanest I have seen in Illinois lol $500.
Nice find on the Ex, that is for sure.

I have done it 3 or 4 times. Usually takes all of 8 or 12 weeks . One time it was the wrong amount so I called and they fixed it and sent another.

Hauling it home. What does an excursion weigh? 6k or so? Truck and trailer are 18k empty so I'm guessing 24k. Climbing up a hill into the wind. Seat belt is flapping around making a bunch of noise. 4th gear 2500 2600 rpm. Boost at 1:1 up to 25 lbs. Backed off to make the corner at the top of the hill then downhill into town. Gearhead light tow economy tune.

Truck is heavy. Here is the truck with 4 kids, the wife, and I in it. Had gas cans and a generator on the bed. Dropped the camper at the scale after weighing the combination)
This is the truck and equipment trailer. My dad and I in the cab. Extra battery and jumper cables. Probably had my wooden sides on. Different days but close enough. I'm calling the truck 10k ( full of people ) and the equipment trailer 8k but it might be closer to 9500 and 8500.
Trailer is awesome. Love the hydraulic dovetail. The last 10 feet of the trailer goes down like a ramp. Super easy with no individual ramps to mess with.

I guess being an F-450, it's that much heavier? I had my truck weighed for registration purposes when I lived in California and it weighed in at 6750 or thereabouts. Anyhoo, nice find on the Ex! I am a tad jealous....in a good way of course. Looking forward to a thread on it.
For that weight is it the empty truck or are you sitting in it? Full of fuel? Which truck was it?
As for the F450:
Crew cab with 9'-4" steel flatbed. (basic one without the underbed toolboxes)
7 heavy 19.5 wheels and tires (1 spare). No clue what these weigh but I hate moving my spare around.
Brake caliper, pads, and rotors are much larger and heavier than my 99 F250 was. Not sure what the 350 drw trucks have might be same as 450 or something in between.
450 2wd has the same front suspension ans the 4x4 minus the differential and axle shafts. It is not the ttb style in the other 2wd trucks. no clue if it makes a difference
People Between 600 and 800 lbs of people and dogs were in the cab on the scale.
Just filled up the main fuel tank. (before adding the auxiliary tank)
My truck is probably 9000 with nobody in the cab, partial tank of fuel, and the bed empty.

We managed to get 2 slide awnings installed on the new to us trailer today and feel great about the protection they offer us when out and about. I also found a local supplier for Trojan batteries and picked up four 6v T105 batteries for $500 out the door. I had 2 core charges and taxes to pay, but the batteries were priced very reasonably.
Tomorrow is a day on the lake with friends and their new to them boat. Cannot work too hard now that I am retired, it is some sort of law I think...

I only got 1 key and no fob with it. No keypad code.
Tires are roundish and hold air. That is about it.
Sold my f250 as a parts truck 2 years ago. New tires on it and good leather excursion front seats
