Those have worked well for me in the past. If I had had some, the time taken to get my truck back on the road today would have been cut in half. I keep meaning to get a set of those for my toolbox, but never do. I think this might be the boot in the azz that motivates me to get some.
I have NEVER seen a carb become so loose it came off an intake.
Generally speaking IF the bolts came just a little loose you'd notice the metric chitton of vacuum leak/crappy running engine and begin to diagnose the problem.
Youre an idiot if you waited until it got THAT bad before doing something about it. I dont even know how the truck ran prior to said dirtroad.

Well, I had changed the brake booster check valve because my original one broke in the process of being removed. The new one was kind of loose fitting, and after I changed it, it started surging at idle and what not like it had a vacuum leak. So, I figured it was the check valve leaking, and never got around to changing it. I never suspected nor checked the carb until it was falling off. But, now that I've got the carb tightened down properly, It's still surging at idle.. Now I guess it's time to get that check valve changed out.
BTW, did you change the carb to intake gasket? Im sure the time I suspect you spent driving around with a loose carb fubar'd the gasket. Additionally, check each and every vacuum line and its fitting. $2 worth of vacuum hose will make or break an engine.
Has anyone ever known someone who stuttered when sober but talked perfectly fine when drunk? I was hoping the same could be said for Joes texts....wrong! Deciphering his texts made my head hurt so bad I had to go to bed. In related news I think hes going to kill someone for selling him a bad engine and Ed(75350 whatever) owes him a D60.
