Taxes are inevitable and Id expect it to go up considerably before it drops even 1/2% . It cost to run this country - granted a majority of the money is spent foolishly and not everyone pays.
just throwing this out there......this country has existed without INCOME tax before and it did just fine. pretty sure we were dupped into having it be a full time long term deal, it was enacted for wwI or wwII(can't remember off the top of my head) to raise funds for the war and was supposed to go away after the war ended........just sayin'
electricity, water and sewage outside of what is charged for use?
fire and police protection?
jails and the justice system?
This is just at the most basic local level.
I do agree that our money is extremely poorly spent but there is no way this, or any, country can exist for any period of time without taxes. Even if you had prisoners do a majority of the manual labor you still need to pay people to supervise them and purchase/maintain their equipment.
kris, the point i was making is not get rid of all taxes, but that income tax hasn't always been around and we were fine without it. the .gov still gets the tax revenue every time you make a purchase, pay yearly to "own" your own property, fork out dough to license vehicles and trailers of all kinds, wanna hunt or fish? pay the MAN and you can. not to mention they still tax businesses. personal income tax is just one more boot left in the *** from .gov to the american people.

Federal income tax is what sipsheot is trying to say. Everywhere .gov is involved costs go UP and quality goes down. .gov can generate revenue a number of ways, but the .fed income tax is not a constitutionally sound amendment, IMO. Private sector and the free market is almost ALWAYS the answer. I've got a dr's appointment to get to, but I can explain more later if you're interested,
