Just added a 12" lift spring to my truck and I am going to have to fabricate a hanger or something for the rear shackel. The spring comes almost straight up so it is hitting the hanger. Any ideas how I could rig this? Pics would be great.
pm 73 ford guy. he's about the only one on here with a retard tall truck with banana springs. my f350 had 12'' springs on it, but that was before i got it so idk and don't have any up close pics.
I think I have an idea of what your saying, would relocating the hanger solve any problems? Pushing it back would be my only guess.. damn banana springs.

Who has banana springs??? not me!! My fronts are 6.5" and rears are probably 4".
Yes, It needs to go down and back and the shackel needs to be longer. I would like to see how others have done this. I know what neesd to be done but would like to see how others have worked this out.
WOW those springs are massive! I agree a shackle flip is probablt the best way to go but last thing you need is more lift probably.
Heres my setup. Not exactly banana springs but a couple added short leafs in the pack. Its critical to get the shackle kicked back at least a few degrees from vertical so it cant get in a bind and kick forward. You'll wanna use a frame hanger that has the mounting location as high as possible for less lift after shackle flip unlike mine which is a low mounting spring hanger location for more lift. You may even consider a spring under mount under axle if its too big. hahah that would be sweet!!!no not really
You dont even wanna think about your driveshaft until you sort out your suspension. Only then you can build and rotate your axle for a cv driveshaft.
And fatdan no my bro has the same springs as me as well he just has a little longer shackles on his front springs and a stock 1 ton dodge 6" block(i know) under the rear spring with my same shackle flip i made.
As for flex I think it holds its own doing pretty good.
Just thought of another thing when you do build your driveshaft and rotate diff your gonna need a new diff cover that has a higher fill plug location to put at least 3/4 a liter more oil in that diff so you can still get oil to the pinion bearing. Bet you never thought of that yet.. I know you were asking about gear oil the other day
Scatgo what do you use this truck for? If I were you I would ditch those springs all together. A shackle flip seems the best.. but you would gain more lift.. I just can't see those springs being very useful for anything. (Other than mall crawling..)
if he thinks he has issues with the rear, wait till he gets to the front axle. 12'' of suspension lift is ridiculous unless you are going with top loaders. this is what 12'' suspension and a 3'' body lift looks like on a 94 f350. pretty goddamn useless. and unless you get the axle cut and turned, and get a cv shaft, 4x4 is non functional.
Though my new boggers are smashing into the bottom corner of my fender when flexin like a G ..even though I cut the hell out of them. Might be the cab mount, I didn't really look when it happened.
