I removed the stripper pole on my 2011 and 2015 trucks. Hated the hump in the tailgate when I was trying to slide table saws and other equipment into the bed.
Stripper pole unbolted and I threw away the plastic tail gate cover and bought a flat panel from a NON-Step tailgate and bolted it in place over the hole. Had the local Rhino line dealer spray it and I was good to go. So the parts from a Non step tailgate transfer over with no drill or tapping for new screws.
Now that all changed with the 2017 models. But I think most of the parts interchange on the older tailgates.

Nope...different part numbers...basic tailgate is different between step and non-step models. Latch, rods, handle, etc might interchange with no problems.

Thanks for that info I would like to do the same thing. I use the step but the pole causes more issues than it solves. Any ideas what the part number is for the 11-16 plate that covers the inside of the tailgate after the pole is removed?

I just purchased and installed one this past week. See pic below for part number, this one is like plastic bed liner. I ordered on Weds, arrived Saturday!
