If you could and don't mind I would love to see some pictures of your tailgate with the built in step but handle removed! My truck comes in the 17th and my dealer tells me you can not remove handle on tailgate!!! I would love to show him some pictures of it done so I can make them do it for me. If you have pictures of the tailgate apart while you were doing the removal that would be awesome too!!!

Does anyone get out of the bed backwards?

You know I am a die-hard Raider fan...and Howie Long was a big part of that team that helped them be a good team. I do have to say that he SUCKS as a spokesperson though...totally out of place for him.

LMAO .... That is one funny video. I guess Ford has a patent on it and GM is jealous. The only time to come down backwards is when the bed is full and there is no room to turn around. On the handle .... I use it when carrying 60lbs bags of salt or the like into the bed comes in handy sometimes.

I would rather have a man step on my truck than a Bowtie. I mean really bowties went out of style in the 70's didn't they.

The same here. I ended up finding the bed extender on eBay for around $125 from a guy who didn't want it but his truck came with it. He claims it was never used. When I went to Ford they wanted close to $400 for both pieces. There are several out there in either Craigslist or eBay that you can purchase at a very low price.

I love the step itself, but knew right off that I wouldn't like the handle. Prior to having the Linex sprayed I removed the plastic and bought the same bare metal cover piece and had it sprayed. I like the way it turned out....just what I wanted.

Step is awsome. had it on my 6.2, my 6.7 didnt come with it. used the pole once to tie one end of a clothsline to it camping. then took it off and put on the smoth plastic tailgait cover. looking for the step for my 6.7 if any one knows where to get one preferably black.

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. I went out and did it on my new truck yesterday. I took pics but I can't post them here. PM me your email and I'll send them to you with a write up. The entire process took about ten minutes.

That's exactly what I did.

Not only is the flag pole useless (useless to me, others like it), the plastic tailgate cover is also useless. So they had to go. The step is ok.

I know it can handle 310 lb bouncing up and down on it with no problems. (me plus 2 - 40 lb bags of salt)

Now that is some ingenuity Just make sure you dig a deep hole and don't forget to not step in it when you go to put the tailgate back up
