I'm jealous as heck!

Lower GVWR means the license cost less.

As you already know, I've never been bashful about letting people drive it.
Lol well just let me and mike know! and you are deffenetly far from bashful on that subject

Nice Truck....

On the tires - I Had the 265/17 BFG Rugged trails on my '11 250... Pretty wimpy - I have been running mud terrains for years... So I went to Discount tire - With 750 miles on them they gave me about $310.00 for set of 4 - I kept spare... 285/17 Mud terrains were something like $250 each... So basically the stock tires paid for a little over 1 tire...

I was happy enough..

MPG!

Just drove to work for the first time in the new truck. Mostly "highway" miles at 60 MPH on back roads, and I reset the Lie-o-meter before I left. This is what I saw when I got to work:

Exactly. I've heard/read various things about this depending on which state you're in, but 10,000 or less means you don't HAVE to get a commercial registration in certain states. California is one, I think.

And Crazy, let us know what the MPG is after your first regen

It'd be nice. I reset mine one time before I drove to work. Mostly hwy and some backroads. At 65mph, my Lie-o-meter said 22mpg. Of course I knew better, by the end of the week, Lie-o-meter said 18mpg. Fill up time, hand calculated was more like 16.5mpg.

Although my boss has the new 6.7 and he's averaging 18.2 mpg hand calculated. He towed a 8500lb trailer from Cincinnati to MO. He said his fuel economy was between 10.5mpg to 11.5mpg.

Nice truck though. I'm glad the wife is ok. You'll be glad you got the 17's come time to get new tires. I know my boss buys his regen fluid at Pilot of Flying J's. He said it's much cheaper there then buying it at the dealership.

Unless you have a camper shell installed permnamently, every pick-up truck in California is registered as commercial. Even minitrucks and Rancheros. It has been that way forever.

Yeah, New York is like that with the camper shell. Sorry for the bad info... there was SOMEWHERE discussed recently that 10K was the magic number where you had to get commercial reg ...

Or at least, there was SOME advantage to being GVWR 10K and less.

Check it out with your local DMV

Correct, except that it takes more than a camper shell. It has to be a habitation, or in other words, self-contained. Theoretically it could be a shell with a porta-potty. But in reality you don't want to try this with anything except a class C motor home. Otherwise, if they catch you with so much as a bicycle in your camper shell, or if you take the shell off, they will nail your butt.

There are reasons to want 10k GVWR, even in CA. For example, part of CA registration is a "weight fee" and the higher your GVWR the higher your annual fee. And it is pretty steep. My registration for an '06 10k# rating is about $600/year. It would only be worse with an 11.5k# rating.

Like anywhere, lots of good things and lots of bad things about living here. We don't have annual safety inspections, the DOT ignores pickups for the most part, and many other things not truck related. And we're far enough off topic as it is. I think I would gladly take my $600 registration over having to submit to a danged inspection sticker every year.

You've gotta be joking....$600/year! I'll pass on that.
I pay $68/year registration and a $14.50/year safety inspection fee.

In Pennsylvania, it cost me nearly $200 to register my F250, weight class 4A, just a bit under 10K. The nice part is that it is emission test exempt, so that saves me about $40-50 per year. Regular state inspection is about $30 or so.

That said, I like the look of the instrument cluster on the 2011!

Man $200. My 04' F-250 gasser is registered for 7k, which the dealer did and costs me $81 a year to register. I was kicking around the idea or registering for the 8800 GVWR the truck actually is but... I'm in PA too.

Don't you have to pay an emissions exemption fee?(I take it you have a diesel) It costs me a hair over $70 for inspection which includes emissions test (visual only), mech inspection, program fee and tax. The whole emissions inspection thing is a joke just like program fee.

Jeez...one more reason to never live there.

You couldn't pay me to live there.
