Years ago I was a roofer, I had an old ford EXP, it was getting a little banged up. We're working on a tear off, I pull off a roof vent and one guy says "it looks like an old chevy hood scoop". At lunch break, with the rest of the crew cheering me on, I centered the vent on my hood, grab my nail gun and shoot down the four corners. I was kinda surprized the the nails went thru the hood. As I left for the day it rattled pretty good and one nail popped out so I pulled it off before I drove home.
I actually kinda like this story...you just gotta love showing off and being tacky all at the same time...A friend of mine has a boyfriend with a really sweet F-350 CCLB with a 22" suspension lift and 44" super swampers under it, he runs a custom off-road shop and has done some crazy things with his trucks. He wanted a little cargo trailer for it, though, so he bought one of those little U-Haul jobs that sits really low to the ground for easy loading. They took it apart and flipped the brackets over, so it was raised instead of lowered, and put some of his old truck tires (I can't remember if they were the 35's or the 44's, but really big tires anyway) on it. Made it a lot less user-friendly, but now they can hitch it up to the truck! Definitely not as silly as lowering a big dually (grrrrrr...) or those hp-adding stickers!
hey you think you can get some photo's posted here?some pics would be awesome to see.
I would have to go with my "lug nut reduction" mod. When we were teenagers, we were constantly swapping the back wheels off and on our camaros. Eventually lug nuts would disappear or get cross threaded. Before you knew it, you were down to 2 lug nuts. Then the inveitable would happen...you would be driving along and before you knew it one of your back wheels was jammed so far up into your wheel well you had to rip apart the entire quarter panel to get it out.
Dumb mod ever! the other day i seen a f-350 long bed droped to the ground with what looked like tires and rims off on of the little trailers you know the 3-1/2x 4 anyway the roof was cut down so low it looked like the top edge of the bucket seats were helping hold it up... oh and it had a tilt bed that was sooooo funny!! and the paint neon pink hehehehehehehehe clown car lol sad end for what was a nice ford!!
Some of the things they do with 4x4 SUV's really annoy me. Slammin' a Hummer H2 to the ground is just STUPID! That makes no sense. To the other extreme putting 22,24 or 26 inch wheels on a 4x4 SUV is also tacky. I have other pet peeves like weed wacker exhaust systems on cars that have 100hp. Too much chrome can make a vehicle look tacky.
ive seen a couple bad ones. a '98 f-150 with a v-6 runnin dual coffee cans out the back. why?? or the elky jacked up high enough off the ground that the guy had a milk crate in the bed for anyone he had riding with him. and last but not least, and this one confuses me the most, a ranger converted to a dualie.
the yugo that used to run around town with longhorn steer horns bigger than the car on it's hood .................................... must have been the father of the tuner movement ......................
What gets Me these day's is the guys with the $89.99 HID kits. Running @ 80K. Blue headlights aimed improperly. They make Me want to swerve over and launch them into the ditch!
hi i just found this site and figured i'd look around and get a feel for the culture around here. so far i have a horrible taste in my mouth and i have a feeling this will be my first and last post...
first truck i drove when i turned 16:
this is my brand new "ricer" with a functional hood scoop and "fart can" exhaust
and this is what brought me here in the first place, yes it's 2wd, yes it's gonna be lowered on bags. i may chop it but i doubt it with how clean the truck is. no, i won't be posting more pictures up here...
so congrats on your blind hate driving off a real automotive enthusiast. take care....
