I haven't done any personally. But there are 2 trends I see that REALLY look stupid and make me wonder what the owner was thinking.
1. Jeep CJ or similar that has been lifted but has little 12 or 13 inch tires on it.
2. It's bad enough when someone lowers a 4x4 so it has no ground clearance. It's even worse when they do it to a big 4x4. But what is the deal with lowering a 4x4 full size diesel dually!? I've seen several of these!
And just the other day I saw one of these lowered 4x4s towing a trailer. How? He had lowered the trailer too.... talk about a match made in hell.
saw a kid who decided to stick an R, as in honda's R, on his hood of his contour, bout died laughing. he followed that with one of these cheap cans out the back, i swear it was an actual coffee can that he pulled out of his moms cabinet, sounded horrible, then he decided to put neons under, he just put one tube on and said it was too hard and would finish it some other time, oh yes, that tube down the passenger side is awesome, didn't cover it up, didn't hook it up, just a tube, sitting there, what a disgrace
I haven't done any crazy mods to my truck but I have seen a couple around here. One is a early 70's Maverick that's been converted to a pick-up/ranchero/?. This guy has been driving this thing since I moved here over 15 years ago. One other is the old cars around here with booming sound systems.....which cost more than the car. Not too mention the large SUV's I see that have these spoke wheels that are(21" or 22") in diameter with a real low profile tire.
Once I saw a Chevy Celebrity with Japanese text next to the words "Type-R" (in huge letters!) on the upper portion of the windshield. I try to remain open minded to people's automotive creations, but I'm still trying to figure out that one...
In beautiful Washington, DC. . . . . older Caddy Seville w/ a rear spoiler made from 2x10s!!! Stained, of course. Not painted. I kid you not!
Also in beautiful downtown Washington, DC. . . .
Bright red Ford Escort, with skinny Centerline wheels on the front with dragster tires. Air shocks and extremely wide wheels with huge 'ground grippers' on the back.
I remember one time seeing a car, I can't recall what, maybe a Dodge Dart, covered with astro-turf. Saw another car covered with fake fur...a Plymouth "Furry", maybe? Another POS I saw had a home made body, built out of plywood. Looked like a packing crate with wheels. -TD
Well, in my neck of Arizona on the Colorado River, we see them all at some time or another. Both visitor and locals. Jacked up, low rider, airscoops, Kanji/car ads, racing stickers and what have you. Stereo systems that blast the air and your eardrums with Latino or rap. Right now, it's those chrome spinning wheels and big spokes with little tires. Trucks and cars lowered down to hit every pebble in the street. A few years ago, the trucks were hydralically jacked up so high....especially the small ones.....it's a wonder the turn was made without tipping over.
And, yes, just what do those wings do for these cars? On a race car is one thing for a practical purpose
Every year, about this time, I get to see a line of older modified dragsters/hotrods pass by my place going to car shows up in Lake Havasu or Bullhead/Laughlin. Puts all these tacky new ones to shame.
I love the rear spoiler on the front wheel drive cars........classic. How can you "tune" your car, and not know that a wing on the back does nothing for drive wheels in the front?
Maybe the LED washer fluid nozzles? I can already see how much faster it is.
The best is actually saw a guy, "tuning" his car, and mocking himself at the same time. I love the whole, "Powered by (Chinese characters)"....this guy actually had a sticker that said "Powered by Chinese Writing". I nearly drove off the road.
Stock 13 year old paint, with body graphics, stickers, or body panels in primer for 3 years. The mesh grills that fall off.
How can you dump $8000 into a $2000, beat up Honda? I bought a 99 Nissan Altima (It's for work, don't worry) for that same price. It doesn't blast black smoke out of the exhaust when I hit the gas at any speed, it doesn't smell, every panel is painted the same color, nothing rattles, I don't need a fire extinguisher strapped to one of the pillars, and I can take clients out in it all while getting over 25 MPG.
f 150 with the engine out of an escort.seriously, the guy in kentucky had to find a way to get or make a transmission to work on it.he had smoke stacks with glass packs and he had the engine set up with nitrous.i took a mustang with the six cylinder and waxed his butt.he couldn't go anywhere without stalling the engine.he had more air going to the engine than fuel.

Reason: used the wrong word
Those two wheel drive lifted convertions are great for say runnin
logging roads here in washington or the desert in the east wash.
and besides they race those prerunners on the dirt track.Nothin
wrong with this kind of mod.
And let me add this, They say you are what you eat.
Well you are what you drive mostly, rice burners, crout mobiles,
me im meat and potato's lifted 89' f250 extend cab xlt lariat 460.
I actually kinda like this story...you just gotta love showing off and being tacky all at the same time...A friend of mine has a boyfriend with a really sweet F-350 CCLB with a 22" suspension lift and 44" super swampers under it, he runs a custom off-road shop and has done some crazy things with his trucks. He wanted a little cargo trailer for it, though, so he bought one of those little U-Haul jobs that sits really low to the ground for easy loading. They took it apart and flipped the brackets over, so it was raised instead of lowered, and put some of his old truck tires (I can't remember if they were the 35's or the 44's, but really big tires anyway) on it. Made it a lot less user-friendly, but now they can hitch it up to the truck! Definitely not as silly as lowering a big dually (grrrrrr...) or those hp-adding stickers!
