IDK all I can tell you is that it was transplanted in, cause its marked 352, which is older FE engines then as I got more info I found out its a pre 70's and by the code its a 1967 Block, so I will just have to tear it apart sometime and see. I am hoping its a 390, cause I love me some 390's but if its a 360 then it can be built into a 390 (Same block as a 360 just uses 352 rotating parts)
Thanks midwest, it may be a while cause I have to clean the chassis and such but I should be going into mocking up here soon.
The gearbox drive unit off of the rear of the tractor! Creative use!
When it comes to cleaning that chassis, once you scrape off most of that ick, HD sells these gallon sized "Industrial degreasers".. its a plain clear jug with a white label, and orange contents. It says its made from citrus only.. It worked really well for me when I needed lots of grease removed, and didnt hurt the pocketbook either!
I am still lost I dont have a PTO unit ont he tractor, it has its own built in hydraullics. So i doesnt use a PTO of any sorts and 5 spd trucks have PTO place but the auto dont also the t-case ont he high boy has a PTO place, which I wondering whats something neat I could hook up to that lol.
Jesse! I would give anything if you lived in New Hampshire. A customer of mine told me i can have his 1979 F-350 for free. I went and looked at it and it is in great shape..Hasnt run in 7 years, but would be so cool to restore. but i have a mustang project on my hands so i cant get into another one.
The engine could be anything really; 352, 360, 390 ....but that isn't the right oil pan for a 4wd truck regardless and the oil filter adapter screams 2wd truck.
hey cowboy, just wanted to gracefully back out of the 44hd convo we were having on the dually 4x4 forum. I took a peek at the link on page 1 of the other guy who did the 7.3 4x4 swap on the 70's pickup and it said he used an open knuckle 44... So maybe it will be strong enough
hahaha Truck looks like a blast man! Wish I was closer to lend a hand bud, good luck with all that rust cleanup. I had to brush up a frame off of a 66 last year... what a pain. Take the lot of it out to get media blasted and save yourself the headache... you'll spend a couple hundred to get it all cleaned up, but it will be bare metal for you to start fresh with, and you won't have any unseen rust spots come back to haunt you later. Good luck mang!
if you look at the 5 speeds in our trucks, they have 2 hookups for PTO's right off the side.
Remember, PTO means Power Take Off.
As in it is taking power off something else.
All our trucks have PTO spots where you can bolt on a PTO.
LOL.. I am referring to his tractor! I have never seen anyone use the PTO and attachments on the back of a tractor to lift an engine.. Thats creative! I was admiring his creative work skills with a tricky issue! Engine hoisting has always been at times when I really wasnt prepared, and I had never considered using my 9N to float an engine out with the PTO attachments on it.. Now I will! Good Job!
