Hey skyfox, i still have not forgotten about you, After some unexpected expenses i put off levelin my truck, so i purchased the daystar leveling kit a few days ago and have recieved them in the mail yesterday. The 2 inch spacers. I cant wait to see my truck leveled like we talked about before. Im going to be puttin them on tuesday at school. Ill post pics if everythin goes as plannned for tuesday
Awesome. I'll be looking for the pics. You just got me thinking... I might do a spacer instead of lift springs. Simply because, I might only want to lift the front an inch or so. SPC Performance makes spacers in .50" .75" and 1" sizes.
If you look at the post where I put jack stands under the truck, how do you think the look compares to the stock height pic (first picture)?
well here is an option not many know about.. Store Locator | NAPA Online i did it on my truck, it sits level, i origanaly wanted a "leveling kit" but i had to have my truck up and running that afternoon and i had a broke spring on the pass side, so i got these thinking they were just OEM replacement, but when i got them in it leveled out to my surrpise!
i do need an alignment but i needed one before i did this, before i had some negitave camber from spring sag and now i have just a touch of positive.. these are heavy duty springs, but my truck has no swaybars and before it had the worst body roll i have ever felt, now with these it fells like my '87 that had front and rear swaybars..
before:
after HD springs:
Those particular NAPA Coils are the equivalant to a MOOG CC818. The CC818 is the light duty short height spring. The HD version of that same height would be a CC820.
The taller spring would be a CC822 or CC824 (HD).
If you want a super firm lift in the front of an f150, guys usually use the MOOG CC844 for about 1.75" lift or a CC844S for 2"

I love the front end height you have with the jack stands. thats right where im hopeing my truck will be with the spacers. right now mine and yours sit pretty much the same and i liked it at first but now it looks to sagged to me. i figure with how much the springs have sagged, adding the 2 inch spacer should put it at a perfect height
Ok, I promised some pics so we'll see if these work. My wife has messed with the camera so the pics aren't the greatest.
So the truck sits like this with 31's, 844 springs in the front, and hybrid leaf spring packs made from the f150 top spring and the 4 bottom springs from the f250 springs. The top of the front fender measures 34.5" and the top of the rear fender measures 37.5" . Front bumper clearance is 18.5" to the bottom and 20.5 to the bottom of the back bumper.
Oh yeah, I only had ten minutes to take these so forgive the dirt.
I did the Moog 844's on the front and still haven't touched the rear. I have a slight difference in height on my rear springs between them so was going to look into replacing them next year. I see you just replaced the bottom leaves and didn't have to get into the main spring shackle/ bushing replacement. I like that idea. I have the 3" (4X4) springs. Did you just get F250 springs from the junk yard and use the bottom leaves? Did you get new u-bolts? (where from?) any other hardware? F-250 blocks? Can you elaborate on what you did?
Here's where I'm at. After several months of the BFG'S being backordered, I finally got them in the in the size I wanted, 32x11.5r15. I took the truck to work yesturday and installed the tires, I'm in love with they way they look. I'd post pictures, but I don't think I can here yet. Also, I don't know how on this site.
Anyway, I noticed that the right tire rubs the black valance at full turn. I see that the right fender is lower to the tire than the left. I parked next to a 04 Ram 2500, the truck already sets near the Dodge with oversize tires. Upon drooling at the tires, I noticed the tire are leaning in at the top. I never noticed either before with the 235s. Both issues tell me the front springs are sagging. So in leiu of the spacer, I've decided to go with the springs to raise the front.
Comparing the 824 to the 844, the 824 has a higher install height and free height. Compared to the 844s, only the free height is higher. So if you can get 1.75 from the 844, can the same height be achieved from the 824? Also, would the alignment kit be needed for the springs, or just with the spacers?
relativity is an interesting thing. A couple inches can make a huge difference. A coworker thought my 95 was a 2wd because it sat so low (at least compared to the 4x4 f250 it sat next to.
my 96 still looks small when compared to the stock dodge I park by now, even with the 32's. I think even after leveling it, it will still look small compared the dodge, but much bigger than most fords of that vintage.
how much taller do you think the 4x4 is compared to a 2wd? Mine is a 2wd and im wonderin if i need to get anything else besides just leveling coils/spacers.

A 4x4 sits between two and three inches taller. It will differ from truck and model but the norm is two to three.
If I were you I would do a little research and invest in a suspension lift.

i got to thinkin for a little bit and i wondered this: would it be a good idea to put in a spacer, and on top of that a leveling coil? And then I would just block the back.. What do you guys think? Can't find a thing bout it on the web.
If you use a spacer and a leveling coil it will be too tall to get the alignment done right. I know I tried that years ago. I would just get leveling coils. I don't like the idea of spacers especially aluminum ones.
