I don't have the foggiest idea what any of them can do in the 1/4 mile. I'm not much of a drag racer, likely cause they want you to slow down before the first turn........
I prefer running road courses and autocross. That's why my car has ground control suspension under it, and ~130HP under the hood.
I live in an area where there are dragstrips, circle tracks (dirt and asphalt) along with a nearby road course.
I've been to motorsport ranch in Texas. Fun track to spend a day on. Might have been a bit more fun, had I not been on the track in my only way back home...... A 300 mile walk home would not have been fun. On another trip to the DFW area, I stopped by texas motor speedway, and run a few laps in the car.
All in all, it's been a lot of fun, for a car that I initially got for $500.
Well tomorrow I'm hoping to go get my truck inspected. I already have new tags for it.
I took it to Walmart last Sunday to get the tire put back on it that I had put on the Cherokee for a while....I was taking a back road, but when I saw about ten guys standing in the road for no apparent reason, I thought it wise to take the main street. The speed limit's 45, and there was a car coming, so I had to kinda get on it to not end up with a car in the bed. For having sat in the driveway for 9 months, it sounded GOOD. I hit about 2,200RPM before it hit 3rd gear, and that was the sweet spot.
And hopefully this month I can take it to get the front end fixed....gonna be nice not to have all that knocking and clunking coming from the front end. Plus it'll handle MUCH better. It's like a mini rollercoaster right now in a turn...lol
kirbster, if you are already licensed, why you gettin insp? in Mo, we have to show insp, ins, old registration/title, and proof of paying county tax, to get new plates/stickers
There is a paved oval and 2 dirt track within 50 miles that I go to some times, to watch not race.
How did you race at the motor sports ranch? I thought you had to be a member.
I live in Oklahoma, near Tulsa, but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet.
I sometimes waych watch oval track races, but don't care to participate.
MSR does rent the track to groups, and when I went there was a driving school that had rented the track. My previous road course experience allowed me to get on the track with nothing more than a check ride, instructor riding shotgun to make sure you knew the track layout and weren't gonna be too likely to wind up in the weeds.

Great, glad to hear your getting it back on the road!
I wonder how I could get with a group that gos there.....
When I went, it was rented to a group called Apex Driving Academy. That was 3-4 years ago, so I don't know if they still go out there or not. Apex Driving Academy Check their schedual.
Plenty of groups rent the track, check the track's website for a schedual, and you might find one that you could get with.
The Apex school was mainly aimed at 1st time road course people, but they have sessions for those who have gone thru the first group or have road course experience. Having run a few times at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in a HPDE type events, apex bumped me up to the experienced group. It cost around $200 for the day, but was well worth the price of admission. I bet I had $400+ worth of fun that day.
