How abouy I save the two of you the trouble - Bill, send Diesel, Darrell, send me the T18. Neither of you will have to go through the effort of fixing things!

I think its about the same.
Now, if you went to one of the granny 4 speeds and got 3.08s in the rear end it would help. Then it would shift just like a non-granny 4 speed, you would use all 4 gears rather than starting in second.
That would be just like having an OD tranny.
I have looked at doing it but it really hurts towing and the ZF5 swap is a little cheaper.
That's a big no sheet! I've had a set of new tires for the RX7 sitting in the closet since just after thanksgiving. Ironically, the last time we hit higher than 60 was also just after thanksgiving..... First winter in years the car hasn't seen much action. Kinda hard to drive a car with ~5" of ground clearance thru snow thats 12" deep.
Thankfully, the forecast is looking better, finally..................
I put more money in my car than in any one of my trucks.lol
Trucks are great, but when you aren't going off road and aren't hauling or towing, a fast car is more fun.

Funny thing is, I paid less for the RX7 than either of my trucks. As if that wasn't enough, the next 2 RX7's were free. All I had to do was show up with the old F150 and a trailer, load them up, and take them home.
One was simple to load, as I snagged the battery from the truck, fired up the car, and drove it on the trailer. It ran, but barely. Considering the timing was "only" off by ~90*, it's a wonder it could run at all....... Pickup coils were wired backwards.
FWIW, the rotary can run at that incredible retarded timing due to it's 3:1 reduction between shaft and rotors. However, it tends to heat treat the header in a major hurry. 2-3 minutes of running, and the header was glowing bright orange. Since it was dark, I thought something under the car caught on fire......
They are certainly different critters. They can't take overheating, and they can be tempermental, but when they are right, it's a nice feeling. I like to call them simplicity at it's most complex. Only 3 moving parts, sounds simple enough. But, 30 individual metal seals, each with it's own spring, any one of which can ruin your day, makes them quite complex. They get even more complex when boost and/or EFI is added to the equation.....
All of mine are carbed, non-turbo. One has an edelbrock 600 sitting atop it, and it really pulls hard.
Horses of a different color do not faze me at all, I am used to it.
Between my 3 trucks I have an over head cam V10, a carbed 460 and an IDI mechanical diesel.
Non of them share anything in common, they even have 3 different types of tranys and 3 different rear axles.
