I may need to bend your ear someday soon Steve. Our desktop takes quite a while to fire up and even connect to the net. I suspect it is running to many processes on startup and in the background all the time but I have zero idea what they all are. It is friggin latin to me.
in the start run type in "msconfig" go to the tab that say's "Startup" click the button that says "Disable All".
You'll need to reboot afterwards, and when it comes back up again a window will pop up saying you made a change, just check the box "Don't show me again".
That will stop all the un-neccessary process that start on boot.
If that makes a difference your done, other wise there are plenty more things to do!
