I took mine house shopping last time I bought one. Found one that had a three car and fit my Excursion with the trailer hitch still on. It wasn't easy and I miss that house...
...when you can finally install an AirWick automatic spray air freshener in the rear and NOT choke out everyone in the vehicle. (yes, they last longer and smell way better)
You know you may drive an Excursion when.... Your fuel light comes on, you stop to fill up, start the pump, go in, pick up 2 doughnuts for the kids, nuke 3 breakfast sandwiches, grab soda for yourself and your woman, and chocolate milk for the kids, wait in line, pay, and still beat the pump by about 5 gallons.
Just heard this afternoon, along with, "How do you afford the gas that thing?"
I just tell them highway is about 20mpg and seats 8 people, saving a 2nd or 3rd vehicle AND hauls our camper (though not at 20mpg,lol)
I drove from central Canada to the west coast in my ex this summer with 4 kids. Absolutely loved having #1 - torque of the diesel through mountain roads, #2 - 160 litre tank, #3 - using 12.3l/100km (20 mpg U.S.) through the mountains! I was using about 15l/100k when we did that run with the minivan.... engine was just screaming through the mountain roads!
I drove from Greensboro, NC to Orlando to St Petersburg, back to Orlando and still had 1/4 tank all while hauling 6 people and all of the luggage.
I did something similar when I bought mine in Detroit, MI. I knew I had a fuel gauge problem coming back around the half way point when I only had a half of tank, but I kept driving it all the way back to Greensboro, NC and then drove it the next day just to see if my low fuel light would come on. You have to love and hate that 44 gallon tank.

Reason: opps
Man I'd love to know how you guys get 20mpg. Best I've ever had on the highway was 15.5...
I was getting 22mpg....but then I had to add the bigger mirrors, bigger tires, and that damn roof rack. Now I am down to about 18 on the highway and 15 around town.
