Lmao, I already had the wheel off to check the brake pads and when I was torquing the ubolt nuts I noticed a busted spring, rather then put the wheel back on and drive over to the shop and put it on the hoist to pull out the busted spring I made do with some redneck engineering so I could jack the spring pack off the axle. I may have been Egyptian in a former life
Some of the stuff I saw guys doing in the Middle East was scary, but some of it was ingenious considering what they had to work with. I learned a few things from them for sure.

Pirate,
Didn't mean to roll you under the bus like that. It was just too easy for me... Thanks for the sense of humor!
Just guessing every one of us have had something red-necked rigged like that. I had the back springs loose (long story), putting the 2 inch jounce blocks that were missing back between the axel and springs. I had to use 2 cargo straps, 2 jacks and a 6 foot pry bar to get everything lined back up... The wife came out into the garage, saw what I was doing, shook her head a went back inside.....
I spent some time in Korea in the mid 80's. The 3 man shovel was pretty good, even better was the way the Korean electrical crew found out if a wire was hot.... Korean Electricians - playing I'm not gonna do you do it.... Absolutely Hilarious....

It's all good,
using cribbing may look redneck but done properly it is safe,
I only explained the situation so if somebody else needs to lift their spring off the axle on a lifted vehicle and don't have a hoist handy they can also do it safely.
As a disclaimer .... If you do not understand the Difference between an unsafe and safe use of cribbing then please have a professional shop do any work requiring jacking your truck up.
Highway pulling a 40 foot camper you hear a terrible nose and you pull over get all your extensions out of your tool box and the 'it is not going to happen again but just in case' spare coil and still consider it regular maintenance on your incredible truck
You start pumping fuel and a Suburban pulls up 5 mins later and starts filling up. We both stand for another 10mins the Suburban is done and pulls away. Another 5 mins you are finally full with a 103 dollar bill and run the station out of diesel.

You know you drive an excursion when you go out of your way to fuel at truck stops because the pumps are high flow and it doesn't take forever to fill up
You know you drive a straight piped excursion when you wake up the guy in the park semi with the running refer trailer that was trying trying to catch a few winks.
....when you've been driving around with a Christmas tree in the back for over a week because you can't find the tree recycling place and you figure it makes the truck smell good so Ill just leave it in here!
When you are looking at buying a new home and one of the stipulations in the contract is they need to put in an 8' tall garage door.... I may actually be able to put the Ex in a garage for the first time ever....

UMMM, make extra sure your garage is DEEP enough as well... There are often hot water heaters or air handlers in the way...
