well I know the seal is bad also, but there is a leak on the pan itself. i can wipe the whole pan down, degrease it, and less than half a day later it will be covered in fresh oil.
The leak from the seal isn't all that bad actually, it seemed to have been worse when i got the truck, it's slowed down over time though.
how bad is the oil pan gasket to change Josh?
I have done several, but all well the motor was out for something else.
Well to solve the oil pan gasket leak- The most important thing is to make sure both surfaces are squeaky clean. To guarantee a seal apply some silicone to the pan, apply the gasket and put a bead on top. If the bottom of the block and the lip of the pan are both clean, it's virtually impossible to have a leak.

It's a PITA with the motor in. No fun at all.

I'll change it for a 3rd time sometime this week hopefully, I need the leak to stop before before the snow falls
Yeah, I was getting some stalker-ish emails, and that idiot from Canada was contacting me again. So I decided to take it off.
I will make sure to call it a TIB instead from now on haha, thanks for the info.
Turns out I need a new DVD drive for the desktop. Why are they so expensive now? Honestly? 65 bucks for a cd/dvd drive with burning capabilities is a bit messed up if you ask me.

I have an older ATI Radeon 9200 AGP card that I was using in my previous computer, but this computer doesn't have an AGP slot. Just PCI...
Ya know, I first went down the path that you had suggested - poor
performance due to swapping things into & out of memory. But, it soon
occurred to me that that shouldn't be your problem and I turned my attention
to video, an area that can be problematic because video card manufacturers
can't or won't release their code to the open source world, resulting in things
getting reverse-engineered (another alternative sometimes is to use
commercially-provided, closed-source drivers from the manufacturers).
I have an Ubuntu 9.10 box at work, I upgraded it from 9.04; although that
upgrade was a serious improvement, it still has problems. Others I work with
have it, too, and are also saying the same thing. More than just the video.
The Ubuntu 9.x release(s) has/have been far from smooth, so much so that I
won't upgrade any of my home boxes to it (I run 8.04 on my primary desktop at
home).
I've got VERY limited experience with any of the Intel video chipsets (only 2-3
machines in the last 4 years) most of my experience is with NVIDIA & ATI
cards.
Despite that, there is plenty o' information out there about this Intel chipset
and its driver problems. Here's some of the stuff I've been reading:
Although much of what I've been reading pertains to 9.04 (you're at 9.10) you
seem to have the problematic hardware & driver and are experiencing the
same issues that other people are complaining about, so you might try some of
the things people claim to have worked for them if you want to experiment and
perhaps learn some stuff.
Alternatively, you could install 8.04, it's FAR more stable.
I didn't read any of those things very closely but you should pay attention, you
could get yourself into a world of hurt (but only with the Linux installation, you
shouldn't hurt 'doze unless you seriously mess up and, say, wipe out your
partition table or somethin' similar). Even if you hose yourself up, some of
those docs out there walk you through recovering....

better than what my pc took to fix it.
The fan went out, the vid card got to hot and shorted.
The power supply died.
$325 later ( doing the work myself) I have it running better than ever, but I now have no sound.
I had to pull the mother board and I think I put the sound wire back on wrong.
