Ya - I don't need a whole truck - just a decent engine - just a decent block really!!!

Well Morris - you're my last hope (that I know of!) for a complete engine....what say?

MORRIS SAVES THE OLD MAN!!!

Finally - a SAINT came to the rescue of my '46 (known as the Old Man by my boys). No need to ask who: it's our Super-Mod of course!!!

Many thanks to Morris!!

This will be a spare until I can find a 46 block for my original engine and get that one rebuilt. Then I'll swwap them and rebuild this one too. This one is from Morris' 51, meaning - ofcourse - that the water intakes are in the front of the heads, the distributor is top left (and servicable!) and the water pumps do not double as engine mounts.

We got it started first - Morris wanted to show me it ran ()- then pulled it out and put it in my mini-van for the trip back to my place (I love my Mopar Van - sorry guys!). Back at my place I pulled it out and spent Sunday cleaning it up for a coat of paint tomorrow. I'm THRILLED - The Old Man will run again!!!

Morris' truck had this swell cab bar on it which he wanted cut off before we put the truck back in its shed. Makes a good smoke-stack!!

We weren't sure which bell-housing would fit.... Will this engine bolt up to my 3 speed, or should I have gotten the tranny too? Thanks for your help!

46 engine thread here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...d-rebuild.html (I'll update it later today!)

i got both kinds here the half ton bell and the 4spd bell the size of the bolts are different for the tranny to bolt to it so it depends on the tranny. You could take both and see which one works. the old half bell should just unbolt from the tranny on the older ones

PM sent - thanks kindly.

Do you (or anyone) know about mounting newer engine to older truck? Would I fab something for the newer mounts, or can I swap the water pumps?
