I do have that effect on people. I had called dibs on the motor from Morriss 53 a few years ago cause i went to the sale and even bid on it BEFORE morris I let him buy it for pennies cause I thought he was just keeping the cab. Of course after I helped him getting it running that night he changed his mind.

(This was before I started downsizing my collection)

Well OK - I'm just looking for a running engine at a fair price to get my beloved 46 back on the road. Me and my 2 boys run it every weekend here or there and we all love it. (One of my boys has special needs and the Merc means a LOT to him!)

I think at this point I'll put in a complete engine, plus try and find a block for the "original" parts....wouldn't hurt to have a spare!

Either wknd is fine. I was thinking of a road trip with the boys. Let me know wha's best - time and day and we'll be there.

As well, I have to be in Watrous for work either Friday (tomorrow) or Monday. If that works I could at least take a quick look. Let me know.

I rival forum.... I feel so violated....

firstly I like you hood removing system, my system usually involves my head holding up the front half.

BTW, 4800 Mercury trucks were made (1/2 tons - 1 tons) in 1946 and 1947 combined.

Alot more rare then 48+, 1948s are alot more common today because alot and I mean alot of 46-47s were abandoned a LONG time ago
Because in 1948 everything was pretty much standardized thus obsouleting 1946/7's even in the early fifties where as parts for 1948 and newwer were always avaible readily through to the 70's, because in many ways trucks as new as 1968 used similar parts as a truck 20 years older.
46s/7s were truely the orphan years, even though owners of the 1957-60s will argue that point.

I was out at Morris' palce today and Colby wouldn't even get out of the car! In any case, if one of the boys come they won't even notice!

I am just waiting to hear back as I requested to join this chapter because I saw all the posts for the old flatheads. I have 8BA 239 V8 in my 49 F68( it has a hoist under the box) and I also have a 53 F100 which I have to get to Winnipeg from North of Dauphin. It's pretty rough but I hope to do something with it. I would like to get to that sale at Carrot River when it comes up so will keep checking back here. Are there still any running flatheads available?

Welcome to the chapter Stickid!
Between Snowking and myself there should be a 239 flat head or two around. You maybe able to find one closer by like Fullcrew7.3/Dave in Manitoba.
