I'm still looking for a pre-48 engine. These have the water intakes in the middle of the head, whereby later ones have them on the front. Like I said, I'm gonna rebuild mine with a freshened block from Keith Lee, but I wouldn't mind ahving a spare!
why dont you do a post 48 flathead but use the pre 48 heads, all you gots ta do is plug a water jacket hole. If your getting it from keith your in good hands.
that reminds me i need to drop some stuff off at ur place e-tek if ur still interested in some flatty parts and a spare post 48 stuck car flathead. send me a private message to remind me
Just thought I'd UPDATE thsi thread - there's NOTHING HAPPENING! lol!
As hard as I've searched for an engine or block, I've thus far come up BLANK....
In November I ordered a block from Keith Lee (Jitney Auto Parts), who has torn down 2 engines to find neither where salvagable. He's working on a third now....
3 other leads also turned up nothing. A couple where not the same CC rating and one I am still trying to contact the owner (thru Morris).
I do have a partial engine in the bush in Porcupine Plain and it is looking better all the time! I'll likely pull it out and home when the snow goes and the ground dries!
If anyone knows ANYONE with a PRE-48 Block or Engine, let me know! God forbid I'd have to stick a SBC in it (never!).
I was gonna say also, I am most likely picking up a 1940ish ford with a flathead, and the engine may be up for grabs yet too, but I wont be able to get it out here till the spring time either.
This truck could have a donor motor, but its gonna be rough it was seized when we bought it 15 years ago and since then has sat out without a aircleaner and perhaps flooded water in through the exhaust.....
