be patient, if keith is looking he'll turn a gooder up for you. Hes the best!
besides, I think you would be better off with a post 48 block.
1) it will bolt to an engine stand with out an adapter
2) dizzy runs off the cam like a regular V8 for better adjustablility
3) bellhousing is removable, the older ones its cast into the block
4) by installing a plug into the front water jacket holes you can run the old style center hose heads
5) easier to relocate the oil passages for better oiling
6) less work to delete the downdraft tube so motor stays clean and not all greasy from the oil exhaust
7) easier to find a good block
8) more hp stock than the early flats
that's some list - though I want to keep it all year-matching if possible. But now that you've given me that info, maybe I won't be so picky on a spare engine!
Not sure what you mean on the engine stand though, I didn't have any trouble bolting my pre-48 (with cast bellhouse) on my stand....
Well if your interested in the motor from that yellow 1940 truck it could very well be yours. I'm still gonna have to ask my old man but it sounds like Preppy wants the cab and hood and I'm stealing the fenders.
I am STILL looking!!! Bob has never answered nor returned my calls....I'm looking for pre OR POST 48 now!!!

I would LOVE to check that out - let me know when and where. Time is getting tight - I could be using the old man right now! Thanks.
That'd be great - I'd love to get something as soon as I can cause it'll still take a while to get it rebuilt! Remind me again the story on it....(Getting old y'know!)
Well, another one bites the dust! Chris and I met up on the weekend (thanks Chris!) and ruled out the engine he had. Back to swimming with the fishes for that one!
I can't believe I started looking for an engine in earnest as soon as I could and STILL HAVEN'T FOUND ONE!! All sources thus far have come up dry. At this rate I am am sh1tting it won't run this summer - YIKES!!!
PLEASE HELP!!
Morris and Snowking - you guys are my last hopes for a complete (post 48). Let me know!!!
Well the motor from the yellow 1940 I had pictured is available, its prolly seized pretty good.
I have also been thinking of selling my whole 1946 Merc project but that wouls be the whole truck prolly lil too pricey, I'm prolly married to the dang thing.
