Hey, I'm sorry Aaron. I didn't mean to sound like I was calling you out, ha ha.
No apology needed - I didn't take it that way at all.
I thought I remembered someone mentioning a dual return Saginaw a long time ago, but also remember that they mentioned how difficult it was to source. Had no idea they came factory on some Ford vehicles... wish I woulda known that when I pulled a bunch of stuff off a 84 LTD! Coulda had me a nice rebuildable power steering unit if I knew it at the time.
Live and learn lol.
I like how you put together a very nice list of applicable vehicles with HB systems in them. We should keep that list going because I find this thread very hard to get anything concrete from... basically need to start a "Part 2" that does a better job of explaining and summarizing the nitty gritty.
Yes that's a hydroboost unit. And yes it will work.
By the looks of it, it needs a rebuild. It's very greasy and may have bad seals in it.
While you're at it, grab the entire assembly (Master Cylinder + Hydroboost) because it will be easier to retrofit both together rather than reusing your old master cylinder... and you'll have a clear M/C housing to boot!
Grab the pedal assembly if you can. Especially the brake pedal. If you use your existing brake pedal and factory firewall location you will find the pushrod from the pedal is not straight. It needs to be straight. Some lower the hydraboost but the proper thing to do it raised the pushrod mount on the pedal. If you compare your pedal to the pedal from the F450 you will find the pushrod pin is 5/8-3/4" inch higher on the F-450 Pedal. To me raising the pin is the proper thing to do as it keeps the pedal ratio the same as the F450 has, also the pedal will sit higher.
For the F-450 s do you need a standard brake pedals if you have a standard or an auto if you have an auto for the swap? The guy who selling Parts says they are different.
For reference you don't need a new pedal. You do need to remove the F450 hydroboost mounting plate and flip it 180 degrees and grind off the locating tab and remove all 4 of the studs. Once that is done everything lines up and you can use your stock bolts to attach the booster.
