Well isn't it better to be safe then sorry?
The way I see it is that it is quite easy to put a little dab of RTV or glue on the thing to hold it and keep it secure so why not? It isn't going to hurt anything by no means and I have personally seen solder joints on vehicle electronics break and cause problems. Granted it was on two way radios but non the less, it happens and better to be safe then sorry

Marv (SpringerPop) and I discussed the use of RTV when I did my IDM. Glue would be a better alternative as most common RTV's give off acids as they cure and could cause corrosion of the connection. I didn't think of this when I did mine , but I haven't had any problems. So far, so good. I used very little RTV. Just enough to reseal the resistor and I allowed it fully dry before sealing the case. It's been about 1-1/2 yrs and many bumps since then.
Ahh, very good point. Well since the RTV is already there I doubt there will be any further harm but that is something to think about for anyone new to doing this MOD. Really all you need is something to just hold that resistor firm in place and not allow the solder joints to take all the jolts. This is more for just in case purposes so that you don't end up stuck down the road because a solder joint broke loose.
Plus all the troubleshooting involved to find that broken solder joint would be a pain in the ****.
