one more question about the IDm mod, what other promblems couls this casuse. sat i took my truck some where to get worked on, would this cause any issues, will it hurt the truck?
This a quote from Bean's website: "Injector Driver Module Upgrade - +15-30hp
Bean's Diesel Performance offers custom IDM modification. This modification increases the voltage to your fuel injectors, providing improved throttle response and increasing torque. This modification works with any hp application."
I've done mine myself over a year ago and have NOT seen any negative effects. No one would even know it's there, but you. Except for the fact it runs better.
Yea, it's on my priority list now. Going to do this before going on a 600 mile road trip this month sometime. That and I need to change my turbine wheel and put in the new WW that clay sent me.
So I did the mod tonight but I about crapped myself when I accedently chipped part of the coating off the resistor.
However I did go to a site you can order these same resistors from and asked the live help if chipping the coating can change the value of the resistor and he said no. It happens and it should be fine.
I also ohmed the resistor out while still on the board and it read 45K w/2000K setting on my meter and 41.4K w/the 200K setting on my meter.
What do you guys think? I don't really want to wait for another resistor. The resistor wasn't crushed or broke, I just chipped the film.

I sent a response to your PM. With my Sears Craftsman multimeter, the readings were 074 on the 2000k scale and 74.4 on the 200k scale for the ohter resistor I still have from Ron. Thanks again, Ron.
Well i found out that while the resistor was soldered to the board I was getting those strange readings. When I un-soldered it I got 75.8K ohms. What now what concerns me is that I'm getting a IDM failure when I scan the PCM and run a KOEO test. Code P1298 though the truck still runs and I don't really see a huge difference in performance. At least not yet. No wow factor really.
Any thoughts on the code? Normal or not? Maybe I need to find a way to fork out the $$ for a replacement IDM?

75.8k ohms is still close to the 1% tolerance for that resistor, so I don't think that is really a problem. Is the P1298 the only code you are receiving? Did you clear it and see it come back upon the next scan? I haven't received any IDM related codes since I did my IDM last April. You may ask Ron (ron's power srtoke) about this. He did the E'99 IDM, but I don't recall him saying anything about it throwing a code.
Yea, this is the first time I've received this code. I know I'm getting a back pressure sensor code as well but that's because the thing isn't reading like it should.
Anyhow, here shortly I'll go out and run another test after clearing the codes and see what comes up.
