Are you serious? In 28 years you've never seen a lightning bug? Geez, I guess that is something that I have taken for granted. I thought everybody had lightning bugs in the summer. We used to catch them by the hundreds with Mason jars(with holes poked in the lids for air), and make lanterns
Ive basically spent 1/2 my short time on this great planet in Alabama and the first lightning bug I saw was down there. I see VERY few of them here in VA. I used to do the same with the mason jars. Mom would always switch out my lids with aluminum foil though so she wouldnt need to buy more lids!
morning all...just got back from the dog park...Lana did much better this time...she is still scared of the big dogs approaching too fast...but wasnt afraid to nip at them to get them to back off!..Took a few dozen more pics of her.
I know some of you tried this too, squishing the fireflies and using it as glow in the dark paint....tell the truth..until the glowing stopped then all you just had left was bug guts
