Pat the amount of water in your house is crazy! I bet your boys have fun in it though eh?
How does your basement get so flooded anyways? Lots of rain in your area or heavy melting or something?
Not to get anyone down but I feel that I need to get this message out.
As y'all know, I had a close friend (and coworker) pass away unexcpectedly over the weekend. He had a heart attack during the night and passed away in his sleep. He was a single father and his 13 year old daughter found him dead in bed when she went in to wake him up.
He had the usual plans that we all have, life insurance, 401k, pension, etc. For all of these his daughter is the beneficiary.
You would think that everything is ok in regards to money.
Not so. Because she is a minor, all of the money is automatically going into a trust fund. To use the money, the court must approvce and dispense the money. Usually, this isn't a problem but in this case, it is.
There is no money to bury my friend. He has no surviving family to help. Because of this, I have become painstakingly aware of just how expensive it is to die. The funeral costs (and this is for no frills) total out to $5600.
Unbelieveable.
Folks, please, take care of these types of arrangements in a will. Everyone thinks they are going to live forever. We don't. Make sure that you have an exceutor set up to handle your business after you are gone. Keep it up to date. You don't want your loved ones to have to go thru this type of situation.
Luckily, I got HR here to give me unoffical (they are going to pretend they do not know) permission to start a collection to get this done.
Still, I wanted to get the word out about this type of situation.
I'm so dam frustrated now. The ex called last night and got J-L upset. I ended up on the phone with her and we ended up arguing she called me every name in the book. I said bye and hung up in the middle of one of her rants. She just called again and left a message asking me if I can send her some money because she is broke!!! WTF is wrong with her!!!!!
Sorry about the rant.............just blowing off some steam.

Thanks for letting me vent.
I feel like an a** for my last post now. Scott pm me your address and I will mail you a donation to help with your friend's expenses.
Scott, we ran into the exact same thing with my uncle. He has land, he has thousands and thousands of dollars worth of antiques, equipment, tools and other stuff. He had a draft copy of a will (not legal) from 1990 written up that wasnt updated at all. No will that anyone has found yet (he had a very "unique" way of filing stuff papers all over the place!)
So as of right now we are trying to get my mom to be the executor(sp?). In the end it will be a long drawn out expensive deal to get all of my uncles things dealt with. Im not sure what te cost of his funeral was, but family just covered it for now.
As young as I am, just dealing with my uncle not having a will, sure makes me think I should go set one up too.
I really feel for your friends daughter. I have a crappy enough time dealing with losing a close uncle, I dont know what it would be like losing my father, at age 13.

I cant help but shake my head man, and wonder what the hell some people think. Ill wait to ask a bunch of questions till when I get a chance to give ya a call on the phone, but I almost have a hard time believing someone could be so stupid!
Also, your ex better have been one smoking hot momma! Cause she sure dont sound like she has much of a personality!

One thing I found with wills from experience it is better to have an attoney write the will.In using will making software loopholes can be left where the will can be broken.
Either way make sure the will is signed, notarized and two separate witnesses. In different states probate laws vary some but this normally makes the will selfproving and not likely contestable
Thanks Jay. Someday it will be behind me. Scott's situation make me realize that I need to revise my will. Everything is left to J-L. I am going to have it set up in a trust with an appointed trustee so that if something happens to me she won't have to endure the additional troubles.
Scott, that is crappy news about your co-worker bro. My question is, what is going to happen to the 13 year old girl? Not only are her funds tied up until she is probably 18-19, but who is going to look after her?
