Well, it involved you jumping around and cursing, but I didn't realize you hurt yourself that bad. I thought it was closer to a "close call" type of thing.
don't worry about it Kiddo.
we all thought it was funny at first, till they had to drive me to the hospital for 9 stitches.
then we all decided it was just plain stupid, cause there wasn't even any alcohol involved.
hell, now that i think about it, it WAS pretty darn funny to see.
They call it a clam boil but they are steamed. I have a pan that is two tier. The bottom holds the water and the top has holes in the bottom to let the steam through. I'll post a few pics later on. There done and I'm hungry. I'm going to miss the free seafood when we move.
OK you had me worried there for a bit.we boil shrimps and crabs but everythin else is either smoked, fried , baked or chowdered
I'd like to have a couple hundred steamers and a dozen or so bigguns to make stuffed clams
I really miss having clams but down herethey have poisoned the waters and if you found some they would make you deathly sick if you ate them
I hope she gets to feeling better! Cause SHES A BIG SWEETY!
Thanks guys, I will.
I imagine some oral antibiotics and a nice cone will do the trick.
She is the first dog I have had that will chew on their own body and self-inflict damage the way she does. She chews on her paws, scratches herself until she bleeds...and I can't even put booties on her to keep her from chewing her feet...because she tries to chew the booties off and well, you've seen the pictures of what that looks like.
Sorry guys, can't rally partake in the seafood convo. I am scared of seafood.

but i ain't gonna do it again, i hope
Isn't that why things are painful? I mean if not for pain, we'd just hurt ourselves over and over again without learning any lessons.

Ugh.
I had a pit mix that would chew her front paws ad legs til they blead.Never did figure out why but she seemed to do it worse if she was nervous or depressed
About a year ago, Dallas licked a spot bare of one of her front legs. She kept at it and kept at it until it was about a 2" round patch of bare skin. We took her to the vet and they told us it was a "hot spot" and was a form of dog ADD. They gave us some stuff called "Yuck" to put on it and sent her home. The Yuck stuff tastes like crap I guess and she stopped. They also told us to play with her more....

Well I have confirmed with my last vet that Mattie has some pretty severe allergies....for some reason it manifests in her feet. She also gets some pretty good ear infections. It was explained to me that the allergen makes her feet itchy and red and causes yeast to build up in her ear canals.
They pretty much told me that I am SOL because they would have to do thousands of dollars in testing in order to figure out what is causing it. It could be a household, food, or outdoor allergen. No way of knowing.
Yesterday my throat decided to start closing up on me and make me cough non stop. When I woke up this morning i was so sore from coughing. I have slept ALL Day and am almost starting to feel better.
Mattie is now masquerading as a morning glory. Dont you agree?
Anyways, the vet addressed the wound on her leg, and gave us antibiotics, and the cone of course, and then we talked with her for a while about Matties allergies. She has bad yeast infections in her feet, and her ears of course. We are going to start working with a dermatologist to see if we can figure out what Mattie is allergic to. Until we figure it out, and develop a treatment for it, our trips to the vet will be an ongoing event. Our first appointment is Saturday.

Scared of seafood? Do tell...
Seafood..Well keep in mind that I am from Colorado...you don't find fresh seafood in such a landlocked place. Every time I have tried seafood, It has been awful.
I need someone to take me by the hand and gently, patiently show me the way of good seafood...because I sure as hell have never experienced it.

I'm sorry to hear that Nolan. Are you sick, or is it allergies?

up here what people call extra jumbo shrimp and pay $15/lb for is called bait down there, and sells for 99 cents/lb
I was Tom, but due to cretain things and J-L being sent here to me. I'm thinking that we may be Scott's neighbors. The job market is much better there.

We steam crabs and lobster too. Oh you want to make stuffed quahogs those are good! Last time I shipped seafood it was more in shipping than the seafood cost. They had to overnight it via Fed Ex.
This is how I do a clam boil (steamers as we call them here)
I soak the clams in the sink for a few hours to get any remaining sand out of them
This pan is two parts. The bottom holds the water and the spigit is for getting the broth out when it's time to eat. The top part has holes in the bottom to let the steam in. I put potato's onions, linguica, sausage, and hot dogs in the bottom of the top pan. I wrap the meat in brown lunch bags to absorb the grease from the meat.
When the meat is almost done the clams go in the pot on top of everything. These are ready to eat now
