My goal still is and has been for the last 5 years to retire full benefits at age 60. If I can get back to work this year I'll still be able to do that. If not plans will be changing

If I adopt you...I get tax rights and some benefits in the parts department. You wouldn't have to call me dad though

Actually I think 60 is a really realistic, well timed goal.
Ive seen way to many people that have retired too early, and they are bored out of their minds after and go back to working just to stay sane!
Morning ya'll. Hoping the sun will come out for a couple of hours today so I can play with my new camera. After 20 years I had to retire my K1000...film is a dieing format and it took Kodak leaving certain segments of the market to force my hand.

On railroad retirement...if you have 360 months of service on your 60th birthday your eleigible to retire at full benefits. I may have to stick around for a couple of years waiting on my wife to reach retirement age if she wants...or she may go at the same time since she would receive a check from the RRB as well. Like I said in my last post...it's all depended on getting back on a train soon....I've just about ran out of "extra months" that would have been served when I reached 60.
Lets see, 60.. not a chance in hell for me, Although I have been with the same company for the last 18 years, there is nothing coming from that..Due to the economic situtation, I dont see the 401 really bringing me through anything.. All thats left is Wal-mart and SOS.. Damn.. I have to work on my people skills..

If I would have stayed at Caterpillar (wasn't my choice to leave) I would have had 43 years in when I'm eligible to retire. I'd also have 4 weeks of paid vacation, every weekend off work and 7 paid holidays right now...but that's another story.
If you do go to work for WM...as long as you don't greet folks like Jeff Durham's buddy "Walter", you should be ok.
