2x6 wall with 4x10 header leaves 2 inches of void. Here, they prefer we either put foam or insulation of some kind there. Unless it calls for 6x header, thats they way the inspector prefers to see it.
Gotcha. I failed to notice the 6" stud depth. Makes some sense, I guess, to leave the open in the back for plain view inspections. Only thing is that it doesn't leave much for mounting certain types of curtain rods over the window.

Hey, Lisa. Thanks for asking.
Yep. I tend to pop in every couple days or so to read a little, but rarely have the time to post much any more right now. Been completely overwhelmed with training information from Schaeffers. I got back last night from a sales meeting in Louisville, KY... roughly 6 hour drive up there Monday morning... afternoon of "team building" paintball escapades (and YES... the AL/GA team took first place!)... meeting all morning yesterday morning... and then roughly 6 hours drive back home. I'll actually be on the road earning money next week, so things are moving forward fairly well.
Once I get my new laptop (Panasonic Semi-rugged Toughbook, but no touchscreen) which should arrive tomorrow, I'll be able to even keep in touch while I'm out and about on the road.

Yeah, if you hold the header in, you get a cold spot and you fail inspection. After I pass, I typically add in blocks on a custom home. Spec homes I leave as is. The alternative is to put 6x in every wall, but a lot of builders wont go for it..
Hey Ed!!! Whats this get together crap I wasnt invited to??? I had a bottle of crown I could have donated to Tom!!!!!! dammit, I still havent met that guy...
Blame Clay, I thought he posted the tech day info in the 7.3L forum.

i read back several pages and didnt see it so im sorry if its been asked but how did the job interview go?
I think it went well, but I'm in the waiting phase now.... yee-friggin'-har... the IT Director asked at the end "Are you still interested?" and I said "YES. Definitely." so now we're on to "the next phase"... whatever that means... I should know by Friday at the latest... what I'll know... I don't know!! hahaha!! Hopefully it's a job offer!
Evening, everyone. I'm gettin tired of all this painting. Gotta put a second coat on the front and south side and then put 2 coats on the north side and the back. Painting t111 siding really stinks.
Well I just got finished building cabinet doors. Its been years since Ive messed with a router and I butchered a few of the rabbets and that allowed the roundover bit to dig into the door even more...stupid mistakes. I got 3 out of the 5 complete and ready to go in!
I was covered in the fine MDF dust....stuff gets everywhere.
Tried rolling it and it's just too pitted for a roller to get every nook and cranny painted. Plus t111 has grooves in it so you need to brush them anyways so we're just brushing the whole thing. I'd rather have an airless sprayer but dad won't hear of that.
