Tom and Lisa those are both pretty funny. I have seen that video before but don't remember the story behind it.
.
I wish I knew the story behind it. Wish I knew what the woman in red said to warrant such a reaction.

could you operate the tractor with wood instead of coal?
yeah it was more of a closed-fisted biotch slap. Why don't women know how to fight. Its all weak throws and hair pulling. If it woulda been me she suckered, that'd bow would be so far up her *** she'd be able to cough it back up.
On the 2nd note, I'm not sure. A lot of the early locomotives were wood-tendered, but a coal fire gets much hotter than a wood one. This one seemed designed for coal, but it'd be fun to try!

it needs front axle seals also. they will get done in the winter when work gets slow.
Its amazing that it's lasted so long. When you say minor vibration, could you feel it through the driveline(steering wheel) or was it more of a bump through the floorboards?
Damn Tom, that sucks about your truck. But then, who doesn't change u-joints with a 25 pound sledge?
ya know, that is the same exact thing the ford dealer parts manager said. but he also added that you should weld the caps to the yoke to prevent them from falling out.

a bad u-joint vibration is kind of hard to explain. it is not localized in the steering or floorboard area.
it is more of a whole truck vibe.
it is one of those things that once you feel it, you will know what it is whenever you encounter it again.

almost like a tire out of balance.
You're right, it is hard to explain. It's more like a "WTF is that?" And when you check the u-joint there's nothing left of it. You feel a little bit in the seat, but the whole truck shakes.
Speaking of vibrations, one of our customers came in with his Pete, the last driver on it, I don't know how he did it, but he screwed the tranny, twisted the driveline, and busted a couple u-joints. So we fixed all that, and replaced his harmonic dampener just for good measure.
And I'll bet you havent made contact with the Doctor either, have you??
My vibration is out of batteries.
Seriously though, I have an appt this Friday morning.

I have a vibration I can't locate. Gotta get to lookin at those u joints. Only does it when I accelerate hard, though.
