Anyone else have tinted windows they can comment on?
VA has or did have a law on the %. 35% on the door windows and 5% on back windows. I had my truck done in Alabama about 8 years ago. Lifetime warranty by Formula 1 tints. Soon as I got back our county obviously got new toys and started cracking down on tint! They had meters they would randomly check and see if they were legal %.
Tint on windshield is by Rx only and that cant go beyond 50% in VA.
This was all 8 years ago though...who knows now...I love my tint!
Well, finally got a nice day around here. I went and did some runnin around, bought Randy's Christmas present.
Washed the truck
Got a snapshot of the snow in the acre out back for those of you who'd like a dose of winter weather. Found some deer scat and some tracks, looks like we have a small whitetail hanging out back there.
just out of curiosity how come you your mudflaps mounted all the way in the back? do they not fit in the wheels wells with your larger tires? just curious....
The people that amaze me are the ones that try to pull out in front of tractor trailers. They're grossing 80,000# and people cut them off regularly. As I said way earlier in the thread here my dad owns a construction company. I'm always riding around with him doing something. When we're running down the road in the big trucks (Mack CH613 w/ 35 ton Eager Beaver RGN) hauling a decent sized load like a Deere 490 excavator people drive like maniacs to get around us. Apparently people have something hardwired into their brains that says trucks are slow and you have to pass them. Even when we're already speeding we get passed in really dangerous ways. And they pull in too close to the truck so you can hardly see them past the hood.

Those are custom mudflaps actually. They are big rig mudflaps, cut down a few inches. I welded the mounting brackets directly to my hitch. To answer your question, they are huge and don't fit in the wheel wells. They still do their job. This truck is a rock flinger, and I figured $20 in scrap steel and a pair of heavy rubber trucker flaps were better than paying for a broken windshield.

My front windows are tinted to what ever is legal and rears are darker, never had any problem with that

You can't use your cell phone AT ALL when you're in the truck for the first year you're driving. In our state you're supposed to have some sort of ear piece for your phone in order for it to be legal, but nobody does. However for me they could suspend my license if I use my phone at all.
NC has a law that no cell phone while driving,I think it should be nationwide
i did the same thing you did since i couldnt find a decent set i liked for my dually and i have an international dealer about 1 minute from where i work. so i got some big rig flaps and cut them down to but im still sitting on stock size tires and mine fit in the wheel wells. although i ended up getting the colored ones with the symbol like yours. ill take some pics tomorrow and show ya. besides ive been needing to snap some updated pics of the rig anyhow....

I had the same issue. The biggest flaps I could find looked too weenie on such a big truck.
I thought about trying to fit them in the wheel wells, but my non-engineering brain couldn't figure a good way to mount them. I needed them to be secure as I am pretty tough on stuff. At the time I also had a quad trailer and wanted to protect the quads from rocks/mud etc.
I'm pretty interested in seeing how you did yours.

Ray, you meant NY did you not? NC has not jumped on that bandwagon yet. I am guilty of doing it too often, but am not a fan of it and making it illegal in all 50 states would not bother me in the least. I have a friend in NY that has gotten so many tickets for it he lost count years ago.
