As I said before, the f150 is stepping all over the SD's territory, leaving gaping hole where the F150 USED to be.
So are you saying that lots of people don't want to buy the current F-150?

The corporate greed is what got this country into this mess. The Big 3 were in on as much as the Bankers.

It's more a matter of what kind of vehicle is going to help the country get out of this mess. Is a 6K lb 18 MPG F150 one of those vehicles? Will it help Ford sell more trucks? Hell No, it wont.

Would a 4.5K Lb 25MPG F150? I would say Yes.
Are you suggesting that a pickup will get country out a recession?

I'm saying that more peeps are looking for 25MPG, than 400 HP.

About 15% of the people here ( an enthusiasts site) are looking for big HP. I'd bet most of the rest of the country would opt for better fuel economy.

If Ford goes under, it isn't going to help the financial situation.
They're going to have a tough go trying to sell this truck in large quantities. They'd be much better positioned to sell more trucks, with a more efficient 1/2 ton truck. Instead of the 6K lb gas hog that they're offering.

Have You been listening to what they're telling Washington? They're pretty much saying that they need to offer a more efficient line up.

I'll say it again, loosing weight is just like free power!

You continue to make these claims about consumer demands and desires. Please provide some info to back it up rather than just saying it.

oh heck...of course. why would anyone want an overly capable F150 when they could spend 7-10g more and get a SD to pull the same load??

Well, go try and buy a Honda Fit. They've doubled the plant output, and still a 2-3 Mo waiting list here in Mn.

Go look at a Ford lot. 150 F150's sitting on the lot.

Pretty simple if You ask Me.

Sherm, with the F150 becoming the baby F250 it's not only eating 250 sales, it's keeping the truck from being what it's supposed to be. A 1/2 TON TRUCK.

It's come to this from short sighted planning on Fords part. Years of trying to outdo the other guys has brought the once best selling pickup in the country to a $30-40K 6K Lb custom cruiser.
C'mon guy's it's supposed to be a truck, not a Lincoln. I can get just as comfortable in my 93 as an 09. Just because people are using them for commuters does not make it the right choice. Like I stated it's, time to come out of the caveman days, make some socially responsible decisions. Driving a 16 MPG Truck as a daily commuter is just not the best decision a person could make. BUT a 25 MPG truck would be a better decision.

The world is changing right before our eye's. If You care to look the other way, Fine.

It's going to be a little scary to see what happens when the Big 3 get their tax dollars, and the Dems come into power. Most Dems have allready said that gas prices should be $5.00/Gal. Just to force peeps into conserving, and force alternative energy into the forefront. They'll prolly tax it till it reaches $5.00 and then fund alternative energy programs?

Have fun filling Your 6K lb custom cruiser then.

So why wouldn't you buy a 4.5k lbs 25mpg ranger?

If you're so convinced that's what the market wants, why isn't the market rushing in buying the 4cyl rangers?

Like MisterCMK wrote, you offer lots of rants without little reason or proof for them...

11.5-12.5 (lately more towards the 11.5 side as winter's here)

my 04 crewcab 4x4 f150 got right around 14-14.5 in town with the stock tires; my 04 reg cab 4x2 F150 got 16s.

My 87 F150 reg cab 4x2 with a 302 and a C6 got 11-12mpg avg city, and hwy it made my excursion look like a prius...

Dman, You guy's. The Ranger is NOT an option for ME. I allready have a B2000.

Try and put a 20' Stick of rebar on a Ranger?

Try and put a 36" power trowel and a 5' Roll of reinforcement mesh in a Ranger?

I need a 8'Box and 20 MPG. The closest I can get is with a F250 Diesel. Which I allready own 2 of.

Why is it that the F150 Out weighs both of them???

For crying out loud, wake up!
Any person that cant see the decline in truck sales, and the increase in small car sales, is either an idiot, or blind.
Why are the USDM companies selling NEW 08 Trucks for less than $20K. Cause they're feeling generous?

Why is Honda doing just fine and Ford is going down the crapper?

I know You can get into a nice F250 for less than $30K
