The OT
Mark I have seen this too, but I do think it is somewhat dependent on the breed of dog and the strength of instinct.
My stepmom's Pug/Boston Terrier mix had pups a few years ago. I ended up whelping because no one else knew what to do. She had 4 healthy pups. She was confused at first and I had to encourage her to lick the pups to help them breathe, seems like after that she started to catch on. She had a hard time letting go of her puppies though once they started to explore their independence. She continued to breast feed them, long after they had their teeth. We actually had to put her in infant onsies to keep the pups from latching on so we could get them to start eating solids and so her milk would dry. She pooped in the onsie one time too and then ran into the house when my dad was the only one home but thats a funny story for a later time, lol.
She also continued to clean up after the pups much longer than was necessary. My stepmom kept one of those puppies, and the mom dog continues to take care of him as if he were still young.
on I had a poodle and some other stuff mix that took good care of her pups til we were able to give them away (I really don't believe in buying or selling dogs)
Her thing was she always wanted help delivering them
With her first litter, she had one pup and brought it to me then layed in front of me to have the rest after that she would just come get me to help with the rest of her litters

She sounds like a cool dog. I think its perfectly natural for dogs to want a little assistance with the birthing process. Even in the wild, female wolves will hire another female to help her birth the pups and take care of them once they are born.
Cats are the independent ones. When I was a kid we had a cat that had a litter, that was cool to watch too.
I love baby animals and I have considered volunteering with the local pet shelter to help pregnant dogs/cats give birth and raise the pups/kittens until they are ready for adoption.
1) Who was it that used to be a personal trainer here? I'd like get some ideas on what I need to do, but don't want to bore everyone here with my personal goals. I've got to get in the gym over the winter. I'm already starting to feel like I need a boost in energy from lack of activity. Also want to trim down and tone up just a shade.
2) I got a new to me TV (hand me down from the parents) over the weekend. It has been randomly turning itself on, with no rhyme or reason, and I would like to figure out why. I've woken up to it turned on the last 3 mornings and it has also been on when I come home from being gone for the day. I first thought it was the cats walking on the remote, so I moved the remotes where the signal couldn't even reach the TV. No luck. Then I thought perhaps one of the animals was bumping the TV, accidentally hitting the power button. However, last night as I was sitting on the couch, where I could see all my animals laying down asleep, the TV turned itself off. Something is causing the TV to power on & off by itself and I have no idea what it might be. My parents said they never had a problem with it, and I'm lost.
Tim, that sounds like it's perhaps a little deeper than bearings and half shafts. I don't know a ton about front wheel drive cars though.
I'm thinking the TV is getting some electrical interference from something else, like the cable box or something. I'm going to take the cable box plug out of the surge protector and see if that helps. I'm not worried about the box getting fried. It belongs to the cable company, not me.

It was also fun to go into Walmart or a store with TVs showing the "Walmart Chanel" I would always mess with those.
Good times!
I rearranged the plugs and also found that the plug for the TV was only about half way plugged in. If this is one of those TV's that turns on whenever it's first plugged in, the loose plug could have been breaking electrical connection/contact and causing the TV to think it just got plugged in, turning itself on. That kind of makes sense too, since it has turned itself off once too. I fixed all that and moved the cable box plug. I should know by tomorrow if that was it or not.

Most TVs have a programmable on/off function that will turn the TV off or on at a particular time. I used to turn my TV to sleep because I like to fall asleep with the TV on, but if I leave it on it'll wake me up at 3 a.m. when the infomercials start playing and Billy Mays comes on TV..

There is also an alarm function that will turn the TV on. Now with most tubes I have seen, the programming resets itself when the unit is unplugged, but if its a newer TV it might have a memory of the settings.
I'd check the menu and make sure all that stuff is turned off.
Also, FWIW, many remotes are now strong enough that a particular signal could be getting through your shades or whatever it is you have covering your windows. I used to mess with my dad, I could bounce a remote signal off of a series of mirrors in the house as I hid around the corner and out of sight/mind where my dad was sitting.
