Way back when, wife and I would go to Florida or the Caribbean for a few weeks at a time and then return to the armpit of the Earth that is Buffalo, the feeling of being let down was just amazing. All the crumbled down old buildings, slush, brown, leaf less trees, you know what I mean.
I'm halfway there now and just can't seem to get the rest of the way. It is depressing just thinking about it. I am going up there for turkey day just because all of my offspring are going to be there. I sure wish they would get away, but they all married into families that are from there and just seem stuck. The best chance I have is the oldest daughter. She lives in Chicago and as soon as her only child graduates from high school they're going to escape.
hell Mark just lasso Jims hitch ball as he passes through and follow him down
then you'll only be bout 100 miles from naples and I'll come drag you the rest of the way

I've thought about that, but for Christmas time, as he's going back down there then. But I've got 3 vehicles I've got to get down there. Only one of them is towable and a bunch of tools. We'll see.
Lisa, How are you making out with the contractors at your house?
Things aren't as hurried as I thought they'd be. FHA inspection deadline is tomorrow, but apparently the repairs don't have to be made by then,..they just have to be done before closing.
The electrician will be there sometime this week though, I really am anxious to get all this work done because I'll be that much closer to the finish line.
Thank you Ray. Number 1 daughter has been after me to find a place down there and she would pick up the tab. But I think that is easier said than done for her, but she's been insistent about it for a couple of years and I have just not taken her up on it. I sent her the link, so now the ball is in her court.

Anyone who knows me real well knows that the waiting part is the part I am really bad with. It's torture for me.
On another note, talked to my boss today about the status of my closing, hoping that my last day could be the 14th. I was supposed to start training a replacement today, too. Well as it turns out she is giving her previous employer 2 weeks notice, which means he wants me to work the week of my closing to train the new guy. Ugh!

That was real nice of your Boss to do that for you. It reminds me of when i worked for Titleist. I did a ton of work for R&D. There were a lot of machines that I was the "expert" on. Well I transfered to another plant and my "new" boss used to get mad when they would ask for me to go over and show the new guy what had to be done to the machines. He really gave me a hard time about it. Finally his boss stepped in and told him that if it wasn't for R&D none of would have jobs.

I'm not happy about it. He's had weeks to find a replacement. Suddenly now I have to try and balance work/closing/moving. The last time I saw him he made it as if he couldn't wait for me to get out of here.

I can't blame you at all, but your like me and won't just leave him hanging. You don't want to burn the bridges. You never know when you'll need a reference.

Its definitely not easy. He hasn't exactly been very nice to me through this whole experience. But, I made a promise and I will keep that promise, as long as he keeps his. If he doesn't find a replacement before my closing, he's SOL. That's all I have to say about that.
