A cop friend told me if someone breaks into your house put a bullet in his head and then fire a warning shot higher in the wall. Your story - you fired a warning shot and the intruder failed to heed the warning so you feared for the well being of your family and yourself so you took action.

After having someone from a select segment of our society to whom the laws dont seem to apply steal some stuff from our farmyard when we were between German Shepherds and seeing how ugly the justice system treated us I will have no problems unleashing my hounds and not calling them off if that ever were to happen again!

Am I brutal? ---->>>> you f******g rights I am!

All too often that happens Jack.
Seems that there`s not alot that we can do to prevent it other than try to be prepared the best we can and mainly the hope that this doesn`t happen to us.......

I feel we are very lucky up here in canada, especially in saskatchewan. Crime is never non existant, but the home invasions are pretty much non existant here. Theft is always a problem, everywhere.

Last time I even heard of a home invasion in or around saskatoon was about a year or so ago (approx) and it was in the bad part of town.

Warren, thats a good tip that your cop friend gave ya. I would do it different though, I actually would put a bullet in the roof and if he still came, then things might be different!
Especially if I felt I wasnt going to be able to physically handle him, or if he had a knife or bat and kept coming.

Im all in for protection, but all too often it seems like the attitude is to shoot-to-kill. I guess that just aint my attitude!

Sometimes it seems like the criminals have more rights then they should, but alot of times that simply isnt the case. Usually that would be a pretty rare case.

I dont agree with someone being able to just break into your house, but im also not sure I agree that you should be able to just go and shoot someone cause they do that too.

I mean whats next, speeders? If I feel a guy is speeding and is going to put my life in danger by doing so, maybe weaving in and out of traffic while speeding, etc., should I be able to shoot that guy?

Thats just a example, im in no way saying that a break and enter is to be taken lightly, but still, does that give just reason to shoot and kill someone?
Sherman, I understand your point about the speeder.

What the law here does is to give you an exemption for the gangs that are now into the home invasion, looking for cash and drugs.

The comment about one shot to the head and one in the wall is great advice. Also, under our law, if you shoot someone in your home, before they and their family could sue your butt off, especially if they were a minor. It does not happen that way anymore. You break into my home, I am physically handicapped, so the threat is even more real to me, I shoot your *** and send you to answer to your maker or higher being or sowhat, it does not matter if you are eight or eighty, forced entry is a definate defense, if they come through an open door, is a little shakey, but not by much.

Like I said, I had two thugs come through an open door, they did not expect me to be sitting in the dark armed. In their day in court, they told the judge and jury that I threatened them that if they moved I would shoot them both with one shot and then wait a few moments before calling for help. Then they played the 911 tape back. I understand that the tape backfired on them. I was not there so I don't know what happened after that. The police used my statement. I will be there when they are sentenced. I understand that both already had two strikes against them. Now these punks are 16 and 17. They were tried as adults. The minimum sentence that they can get is 40 years unless the judge throws the third strike. Then it is life.

I can only say one thing. It sucks to be them. But now I have to put up with the family and their threats. I know it is not over and before it is, I do know that someone will be shot. I just hope that it is them and not me, my lady or my babies.

If these thugs' families even threaten my lady or babies, they might as well get a cell ready for me. I will strike first, without warning and with all the firepower I can muster. And believe me, if I want, I can make it look like an attack on a third world country. Yeah, and this is not a threat against them, it is an effing warning. Stay away from me and my family or suffer the consequences.

"Nuff Said!"

Sheldon, here is where you are wrong. You may not get the second shot. Protect you *** first! You do not have to kill them, just stop the progress.

One shot to the nuts will usually stop any intruder immediately and it will also stop another idiot like that one being made.

See this is where you and i would probably bang heads a little on the subject (nothing wrong with that though!)

I have no handicap, and the law up here is a little more criminal friendly up here then down there (so it appears), and lastly we simply do not have the same caliber of crooks and criminals up here, or the same kind of gangs as you do down there.

I agree with ya about protecting ones own *** first too, no questions asked. As weird as it may seem, I still dont think that if someone breaks into my house, that should mean they should get the death sentence by me. (of course there are always differing circumstances, but Im just talking in general).

Lets face it too, if the people that invaded ones home had weapons, and wanted to use them, there is little chance that a guy would get any shots. By the time ya heard them standing over you with a gun, there would be no chance to grab your own, there would be little chance to do anything. Unless of course ya dont sleep haha.

Now Ive always thought that shooting a person in the leg or arm was a great idea. To me, that makes sense, alot more over taking a persons life. (just my own personal opinion) Now those may change as I get older and less able to protect myself in other ways too.

Paul, let me ask ya a few things about your home invasion. Were the kids armed? Do you live in a good or bad neighbourhood?

That sucks that your home got broken into, almost makes ya feel less secure in your own house, I know how it is. We had our house in BC broken into by some young punks too, and they are extremley lucky I was home to catch them. But it does take your sense of security away for a little bit, or at least did in our case.

Sheldon, one was carrying a large knife and the other had a 22 stashed in his pocket. I don't exactly live in a bad neighborhood, but it borders a "Criminal Free Interprise Drug Zone" that the cops cannot seem to or do not want to control.

Oh, I guess I could have shot both of them, but I had the surprise on them and both of them knew it. I have looked down the barrell of that 40 at a distance. I sure would not want anything to come out of it at me.

And yes, the law is stacked against the victim here too. The criminals have more protection while the victims suffer. And then on top of that, even if the victim wins and is awarded restitution for damges, try to get that out of them.

That is why at this very moment unless they sought medical treatment, there is two hoods carrying a little gift that I gave to them in downtown Charleston a few months back when they tried to mug me. They though I was reaching for my wallet while on the ground and I pulled the 40 instead. I never flinched, I fire two shots, both hit their mark. One in the thigh as he was running away and one in the *** as he turned. Hopefully the *** shot messed him up enough there won't be anymore like him. I know I got them as there was two trails of blood leavingthe scene. I got up, brushed myself off and left before the Gestapo got there. No use in me being charged for brandishing a weapon in a no weapon zone.

Yeah if the guys were armed and you are handicapped physically, I can see why you would have that finger a little more itchy then I would. Im glad ya didnt get hurt, and glad that ya didnt have to shoot anyone either.

I think the way the laws are supposed to be is that they keep people from going too extreme when they defend themselves. I mean what may look like a potentially life threatening situation for one, may not be the case, and a person can do crazy things when pushed a little.

When those fellas tried to mug ya (and Im not gonna laugh at the situation, but it was funny how you worded it that you left them a little gift) and you fired your gun at them hitting them, did you have to report that to the cops at all, or how does that part work? Like do they keep record of everytime you fire your gun and hit someone?

I was carrying concealed in a "No Carry" zone. If I had reported it, I would have probably gotton myself arrested. I was only about 30 yards from my truck. I limped to it, got in and as the saying goes, "Gotta Hell Outta Dodge!"

On top of that, if I had reported it, they would have confiscated my weapon so they could match the slugs if those perps went to the hospital and had them removed. I would say that both did as I use a police special hollow x point. It enters with a pencil hole but expands to the size of a quarter and splits upon impact. I would not want shot with it. I have seen what it does toa baslistic dummy. So, I would guess, yes, I hopefully put their criminal activity out of commission for quite a while and hopefully, just maybe, a ***** out of comission for life. It was a low shot on his butt, but high enough to blast his prostrate gland and bladder. I hope the perp has to wear a bag the rest of his life!
