Wow, I`m not real sure.
I set them up untill there`s a drag and then back them off part of a turn. I think the max is between 3/4 and 1''.

Ok so you're on Preps side. I always had mine set foe 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 but I've had many DOT inspections and never got a ticket and they pulled my brakes.

Those pushrod stroke junkies out in BC were so **** when I hauled there - if you had any wear in the system (I am talking normal wear, not slopped out stuff) like pins, etc, the spec was too tight - we cranked them up for the inspection then backed them off somewhat. The spec was too tight - with the expansion from heated up brakes they would sometimes drag when hot.

Im just going by what the sgi manual, and what they showed me when I took that driving course. I set mine up at 3/4 of an inch, and they dont drag, and work well for my truck.

Seems like all the literature I can find says that the legal setting is between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch.

Ive only been stopped once in the dump truck, and the rest of the trucks I have driven have been automatic slack adjusters, thats why I brought that up on msn

hi guys,
i don't know the D.O.T. laws up there but down this way the front shoes on a big rig are set cranked up tight then backed off 1/2 a turn and rear brakes are backed off 3/4 of a turn and the lining height are no less than 1/4 inch worn minnimum. thats to prevent the 's' cam from caming over.
and trust me you don't want that to happen, it makes us mechanics cuss.
specailly on the road. i've done D.O.T. inspections on class 8 trucks and trailers.

IF I could afford to pay someone to fix my stuff that is lol.

To keep from going broke ya pretty much have to fix your own stuff.

Unless your rich like Morris
