It's a provincial program thats been 2 years in the making but started in January of this year. It's a 15 - 25% kick back based on energy savings, covers water heaters and furnaces to. The windows on the back of the house need to be done as that side of the house is colder due to lack of sunshine, makes for a cool, shady back yard. This is also a bit of an economic stimulation program as it encourages home owners to upgrade their properties.
There`s probably a similar a provincial program here, I get mail outs with my power and natural gas billing. Guess I should pay more attention to them instead of just throwing them out.
The furnace and water heater in this place are original from the mid 70's so they need to be replaced. If I find a deal on a 60 gallon water heater I'll grab it and put it in and put a receipt behind it
My mid efficiency gas furnace is 3 years old, my gas hot water heater is 8 years old. The 2 rental units have older furnaces which I considered changing over but after having the problem with mine I think I`ll keep those furnaces, they`ve been trouble free over the years. I get my furnaces cleaned and serviced every year, some renters are good at changing filters and some aren`t.
Sigurd replaced both of their furnaces, James did his and Ling replaced hers and they have all had problems, figured it was a Calgary thing. Workmanship here can be pretty bad.
The furnaces that Sigurd has are tied into his water heaters and it blows a pressure sensor on a regular basis, resulting in no hot water or heat as it automatically closes a gas valve.
Light but steady snow here today, will push it out of the way soon just to stop it from getting to deep.

It maybe partly that it`s workmanship and partly the overly complicated design.

A lot harder to work with too.

I`m glad it skips over us heading further south as it passes through.

Why are is it set up like this? Seems to be asking for more problems.
This thing of Sigurd's has a pipe that runs part of the exhaust from the furnace through the water heater exhaust chimney, it's supposed to be an efficiency system of some sort to save on heating the water. Darlene and Sigurd are a bit of an easy target for sales reps so they wind up with 35% over priced windows, the $70 a month monitoring, $175 a month cable & Internet, you get the idea.
Good morning
Had 4" of snow on the cap rail of the fence when I shoveled yesterday, about to find out how much more we got in a few minutes, -20 right now.
