You will have power door locks on your truck?
I bought the Altman locks and power locks for it. I can also use a key to open either door but the Altman locks don't work like the originals. For instance if you have both doors locked and you use the key to open the drivers door you can't reach over and open the passenger door from the inside, you have to get out and open it with the key and this is the reason I bought the power kit. If I had known how these Altman's worked I would have stayed with the original style where you could lock the door from the inside by pushing the handle forward. The only advantage to the Altman's is that they are bear claw latches..

0°C is our high for tomorrow and -13°C by Wednesday, it`ll be back to winter Perry.
Anything is an improvement over stock door but it sounds like the Altman set up is a real pain with that lock set up. Eventually I will want to get bear claw style latches, what are some of the different brands are out there John?

Well, the day started warm but now the temp is dropping so our week of -6 for a high is about to start. Got all my outside crap done and tomorrow I'll bring the truck around to the front of the house now that the new tenant is moved in. Have some things to finish on the truck like clutch return, put in floor pan, figure out a cheap new mat for the cab and pick up some lumber to build the side walls for the deck, guess they can get painted inside once they're cut and fabbed up, need to find a pair of 1 piece rims and tires also. By the middle of the month I just might be ready for the spring thaw.

I hate dealing with replacing door latches and the assocciated hardware, always wind up with cut up fingers from the inside of the door.

Same here weather wise, 2°C at noon then the wind and the clouds came along, -20°C for lows this week with highs around -13°C. I scraped the melted snow in my farm yard before the freeze happens.
Sounds like you have the truck almost done, places like Canadian Tire should have something for a floor mat. Rather than throwing them out I like using smaller pieces of thin carpet for floor mats.

Altman's are the only ones I know of that are made specifically for these trucks Morris that use the outside door handles anyway..

There's a carpet place 3 blocks from here so I'll see if there is something I can get for both trucks as I need a carpet and some kind of rubber mat for them both. Need to either find something for this hole in the roof of the 1 ton or stick with a glued in rubber grommet, bubble gum light might be nice or may dig out the air horn that was on the sandwich truck.

I would want to retain the outside door handles as well as locking from inside John.
I`ve always wondered if the mechanisms from a 73 to 79 F150 could be made to work.

Having door handles on the outside would come in handy, having to rely on a cable with a ring on it wouldn't be my first choice. Lol

I think you can buy replacement parts for the original set up Morris , I would think if the worn parts were replaced they would last for awhile..

Mine neither. One car I have someone removed and filled in the passenger`s outside door handle, since most of the time I`m alone that worked ok.

Mine are good but it`s a real art and a pain to get them set up. A friend can do it fairly quickly but I don`t have any luck with setting these up.

I have no handles on my panel, I like the look. The biggest problem I think is the weather stripping which puts a lot of pressure on the door making them hard to open..

how old is your weather stripping? I`ve heard guys complaining about how thick the new weather stripping seems but in time it does get better.

Mine is brand new but not the hollow type, it's made a difference already in the week the doors have been on, I will eventually move the latch so the door closes tighter..

How is the hollow type, is it fairly decent?

I haven't used any, the stuff I have is solid but soft. Where it is harder is at the dog leg and the bottom corners. I heard the hollow stuff collapses after awhile and you get wind noise on the newer vehicles anyways..
