HI Guys sounds like everyone got snow.

96sherm Yes I very Glad I wasn't in the shop when it lit up. ( however I would have been closer to the fire extinguisher by 100 ft )

Randy270 I will be fixing it I've had it since new only 225 k on it. I have it in the shop all apart most damage is on the headlight bucket, headlight wire harness, some kind of heat sink ( I didn't even no it was there ) battery is scorched but usable.

Apparently the 2004 to 2007 headlight buckets fit in the 2001 with slight hidden modifications. They are the Projector type lights and from what I've seen are better than the stock headlights for driving.
I have to buy the left side headlight as it is melted beyond use so I may as well buy both sides, as the right side is clouded real bad.

Yes I'm selling my sled Curtis, I have under 850km on it and I've had it since December, 2011. I don't ride it enough to justify keeping it, plus I want the money more than I want my sled.
Thanks Randy. That'd be great. Call me next time you're in town. Thanks for the info on the board's Sherm.

Morning everyone.

Started the water softener install last night. Got the painful reminder that when soldering pipes, they stay hot for quite a while after soldering. I'll be growing new fingerprints shortly Of course, I didn't get enough fittings, so I need to run to town again...

Randy, that's not much riding at all!!! I've got 5000kms on mine since late November 2010, its a 2011 model. Barely put 200 kms on it in the past 2 years though, so its gotta go. Got the itch to rip yesterday, but when I thought of the process of getting dressed to ride, the feeling passed. Hopefully the guy comes today to see it, brings a wad of cash in the right amount, and leaves me with some space in my shop.

Wonder how Ger's experiment is going?

Have a great day everyone!!!

Last year was our bad year for sledding, this year is a lot better and we are hoping to get out today.

I am with you on the soldering Sherm, things never go well when I am trying to be a plumber.

Plumbing can be a complete pain in the keister. There's only 2 joints I'm not looking forward to, that's the 2 final ones to the existing copper. The smallest drop of water will totally screw up a nice solder joint. One weekend in the summer I'll kick everyone out of the house and redo the whole house. I'd like to use PEX pipe because its cheaper and faster, but I don't like how the fittings neck down the flow path. The passage through 1/2" PEX fittings are nearly 1/4", on the 3/4" they're down to about 1/2". With copper, the size is consistent.

Off to Canadian Tire for parts, then back to plumbing...

From what I understand is those ballasts for the HID's need to be mounted to metal, not plastic because on the heat. You were very lucky you caught things before they got worse.

Both Ballasts were mounted to metal but the HID kit did not cause the fire.
I know this because the fuse didn't burn.
What happen was the HID bulb fell out of the headlight housing and heated the plastic housing till it made flames and then everything around it caught fire.
I have seen this on the regular bulbs also when they fall out however the regular bulbs need to be sitting on the plastic a long time before they light up

Morning everyone. After a long weekend, I really don't want to go to work today. At least February is over 1/2 gone, daylight hours are getting longer... There is hope.

The water softener install was a success. No leaks, and my wife already noticed that when rinsing dishes in the sink there are no water spots left on them. Today she's going to look at a new dishwasher. I told her I want a blonde one this time Looks like I'll be washing the dishes from now on...

Have a great day everyone!!! Its a short work week!!!
