Morning boys, Grant, hope your boy passed with flying colors... Teach him proper driving. No distractions. P is for Park, R is for race, N is for night time, D is for day time, and if its a vehicle that still has the 1 and 2 in the shift system, those are what you use for getting home past midnight... 1 for 1 o'clock, 2 for 2 o'clock...

Congrats to your grandson as well Morris!! I bet your son and family is excited for their new home to arrive!!

I think the biggest fault to driveways of any solid surface, or floors failing is improper substrate. I've done enough concrete work to know that the more compact the base is, the more chances you have of a nice finished product. Too many people pour a driveway the same year or next season after they move in to a new home. That is the worst possible thing to do. Drive around a new subdivision and you will see big washed out voids under the edges of the concrete. What should be done is to excavate 18"-24" of material, fill with a good "a-base" material and compact every 4"-6". Leave that for a year while driving on it, it will compact another couple inches guaranteed. Now you have a substrate that a skidsteer will struggle to shave off to get to the depth to put your driveway on top. Another thing I've noticed is that guys don't shake the rebar into the concrete enough. There isn't enough emphasis placed on the importance and strength of the rebar.

Have a great tuesday everyone!!

Happy Tuesday mornin'all. Jordan had the points to pass, but the trainer dude has to assist a stop (he used his driver trainer car) by hitting the brake pedal. That was an automatic fail, so back gain in 3 weeks. One of our driver's has his fuel card's stolen in Vancouver (the idiot left his PIN # on the card's) in a span of 2 hrs they stole $5000.00 worth of fuel. Needless to say my brother was furious. Have a great day guy's.

96sherm you know your concrete. I much prefer interlock. So many choices in colour, pattern and seems to last longer.

Thanks Sherm, I`ll pass that along to Brandon, the newest driver in our family. don`t think I`ll pass along your driving hints tho.....
The 55 ft centre basement beam is in and if all goes according to plan tomorrow my son`s RTM should finally arrive here at the farm tomorrow!
I agree on the sub base underneath concrete, every good contractor I`ve done Bobcat work for was extremely fussy the sub base underneath concrete the same way.

I like concrete driveways but they always end up cracking up tho some last quite a few yrs before that happens.

Evening Gerry, this past couple weeks have been nicer than it's been all summer, have my fingers crossed in hopes that it stays for awhile.

I gotta disagree with y'all... I'm not in love with this +30 weather any time of year I would like a happy medium of 18-20, sunny with cloudy breaks... Yesterday the humidity seemed so bad it was hard to breath and get anything accomplished.

Have a great Thursday everyone!!

Happy Thursday mornin'all. Kalan made the 9yr old Elite team for hockey, and Jordan made the high school hockey team. The wallet draining begins. Have a great day guy's.

Goo day Ford folks!
My son`s RTM arrived yesterday right on schedule.
I agree with both Grant, I`m loving this weather, especially since winter isn`t very far away now and with Sherm on the 18-20, sunny with cloudy breaks. Hopefully the rain stays away so harvest goes ahead.
